The Dark is Rising Sequence

'When the Dark comes rising, six shall turn it back
Three from the Circle, three from the Track
Wood, bronze iron; fire, water, stone
Five shall return, and one go alone.

Iron for the birthday, Bronze carried long
Wood from the burning, Stone out of song
Fire from the candle-ring, Water from the thaw
Six signs the circle and the Grail gone before.

A novel re-writing of the Arthurian legends, and several other ancient British pagan myths, with an extra twist written by Susan Cooper for children in the 1970's.  They are slightly dated in a sort of Famous Five way now, but they still hold the magic they always did.  So, who exactly is Great-Uncle Merriman, and why is the Walker abroad just before Will's eleventh birthday?  What does the Greenwitch hide beneath the waves, and where is the Door of the Birds?  Why is the Wild Hunt riding, and who is Bran?

Seaward

This is a book to make you think.  I read it over or four times when I was in my early teens trying to make sense of it, and each time your read it you find another link that you missed.  I would advise anyone who has read the Dark is Rising Sequence to read this.
Follow Cally and Westerly on their journey towards the sea through a strange land in a strange dimension.
