In that incident Muslims from Waihaong, Batu Merah and Galunggung burnt the economic centre of activity in Ambon. In that incident almost all of the shops owned by the Chinese were burnt.   Shops belonging to Christians burned in AJ Patty Street (the main business centre of Ambon) on July 27th 1999.    Business Centre of Ambon in AJ Patty Street destroyed on 27/07/99.   Christian village destroyed by Muslim attackers at Waimete, Piru, on Seram Island in the Moluccas.
