ORIENTATION Before you send any course work, you must successfully complete the orientation. Your first assignment is to complete orientation. Your first assignment is to complete the Orientation and send it by email to me. To complete the orientation, find the correct answers on this page or one of the pages of your syllabus to the 15 questions below. In a new email, type the questions (copy and paste); then type your answer. Be sure you have the correct answer for #6 so you can use it on your orientation email. Send your email to the email address assigned to your course. Then wait! Your orientation is not complete until you receive a reply from me that your answers are correct. (If you really read the six items in #15, you know how long you should wait!) 1. What is your first and last name? Be sure to use the name under which you registered. 2. What is your preferred email address? You must have an email address in order to take an online course. 3. What is the best way to get in touch with me? 4. At what phone number can you be reached and when is the best time to call you? This is in case of an emergency. 5. What must you use as your subject line in all course emails?Ê Be precise! Emails may not be answered or will be returned without a grade if you do not do this. 6. How are you to submit assignments? 7. What is your first assignment and when is it due? 8. How often should you check your email? How often should you check the course webpage? 9. What must you do if you do not have your work by the due date? 10. Turning your work in by the due date is a sign of what? 11. When are evaluations due? 12. What do you use to mark your answers for an evaluation? 13. True or False: All decisions or interpretations concerning the course guidelines are at the discretion of the instructor who may amend, change, or add to as needed with notice to the students. 14. How much of my webpage is considered to be the syllabus? 15. Read the Code of Ethics. 'Ground Rules for Online Participation,' Email Etiquette, 'Academic Honesty', 'Requirements & Grades', "Very Important Things to Remember" and 'Textbooks" Type or copy & paste the following statement into #15. "I have read the six items assigned and understand the requirements." If you type in the statement without reading the six items, that's your call. However, I will take you at your word and expect you to know and follow the rules. If your orientation is incomplete or incorrect, I will send it back to you for corrections. Once you have successfully completed it, I will send you a congratulations email and you may begin your course. If you have any problems through out the semester, you may always reach me at the email address above by using the correct subject line. If this is your first online course, you may be a little nervous. Relax... it's not that difficult and I think you will enjoy the experience once you get used to everything. You might wish to look at some of the sites below regarding your readiness to participate in a distance course. Good luck with your course! |
