Classroom Management/Discipline Plan Form Classroom Management Summary
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN ACTIVITY

Your are to develop a classroom (aka discipline) management plan that fits your philosophy, teaching style, and with which you are comfortable.  This assignment should include:

1.  A statement reflecting your position on classroom behavior expectations.
2.  Discussion of how the plan including rules will be developed e.g  Will the students be involved with writing  the rules (with teacher guidance) or will the teacher (or faculty) develop the rules?
3.  What are the rules?  (Even if they are student generated, the teacher should have specifics in mind and guide  -herd - the students in their development.  What will you as the teacher want included?)
4.  What motivators will you use to maintain desired behavior?  See Class Rules below.
5.  How will your classroom environment be arrranged to foster appropriate behavior?  See Learning Environment below.
6.  At what point and how will parents be included in the management of student behavior?  See Parent Involvement below.
7.  Read the
Discussion and Summary information before finalizing your plan.

STEPS IN DEVELOPMENT OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

1.  Read the information on the
Classroom Managment/Discipline Dicussion page.
2.  Search the internet for samples of classroom management plans.
3.  Identify at least three plans that look adaptable or usable for you.
4.  Write a classroom management plan for the grade and/or subject you want to teach.   
     Use the format provided on the form:

In addition to the elements on the handout, include (but not limited to) the following:

Class Rules:  Make the rules as specific as possible.  Avoid "vague" terms such as "Be nice"  unless you have an in-depth lesson about what this means. 

a.  How will they be developed?
b.  What are the rules?  (List them)  Use the
Classroom Managemen/Discipline Plan Form.
c.  What are the steps and consequences for behavior? (List)
d.  What is the reward system? (List)

Learning Environment

a.  Classroom arrangement (seats, tables, etc.)
b.  Classroom routine
d.  Other important elements

Parent Involvement

a.  How will  you involve the parents in their childŐs behavior?
b.  What procedures will you follow when discussing student with parent?
c.  Any  other considerations?


FYI:


1. Be sure to tell what age/grade you are going to be teaching.

2. When writing your plan, make it practical.  Do not include anything that you cannot implement. 

3. Be as specific as possible.

4. Use correct grammar  and writing form.

5. To adequately cover the topic, from 2-4 pages are expected.
