TECHNOLOGY PLAN Most classrooms today have technology of some kind. That would include television set, VCR/tape player/recorder, overhead projector, and computers just to name some of the technology available to teachers. Every school district in Texas has a technology plan for each campus. Before writing your technology plan for your classroom, visit this site for an example of a district technoogy plan.: Click HERE. Read the information on this site. Assume that you are on a campus and this is your school's plan From the information here, begin to write a plan for your classroom use of media/technology. Be sure you include the grade level of your audience (the students you are teaching). For your technology plan for your classroom, prepare a plan that will indicate how you will use any technology you might have in your room. Assume that you have at least the following: 3 computers with appropriate programs 1 television 1 VCR/tape player/recorder combination 1 overhead projector 25 calculators If you are lucky, you may have individual tabulator/communicators. that allow students to program their answers (used especially in math). Maybe you will have a video camera. A coming trend is a laptop computer for each student. Textbooks will be on CD and updated annually. Your school may be moving toward all textbooks on Cds. ACTIVITY Write how each piece of equipment will be used in your room. EXAMPLE 1. Computers will provide individual instruction for students in math, reading, and language arts. a. Learning activity modules for each core subject b. Accelerated Reading Activities c. Drill and practice 2. Overhead projector will be used to diagram lessons 3. Television programming will be utilized in language arts by providing teaching tapes that will enrich the instruction. 4. Video camera will be used to record students at work; they will produce their own television programming. Be creative in the way you will use the technology (aka media) in your room. See how many different ways you can use the equipment to enrich your teaching and provide learning experiences for the students. |
