Words of Comfort
Dear friends, I have written this web page so that we may be mutually encouraged by each others' faith (Romans 1:12). As a Christian, I would like to introduce you to Christ by:

sharing my faith in Jesus Christ with you

bringing you "Good News". The Good News is the Gospel of Jesus Christ

encouraging those of you that are "doubtful" about your "rightful standing" with God and to tell you there is "yet" Hope for you. Jesus died for you. Let Jesus carry your burdens, but first you need to invite Him into your heart.

THE BIBLE

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened in judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

In agreement with Paul (I Corinthians 2:1-2) I have also decided not preach to you. However, I would like to introduce to you several MINISTRIES with "outstanding" pastors, evangelists and teachers that I consider to be "Spirit-filled" leaders, teaching "sound doctrine". These leaders have been given "special gifts" to share God's message with humanity, but they cannot do it alone. As Christians, we have the privilege and responsibility to share our faith with the world, by supporting these MINISTRIES with our finances, prayers and services. For many years my life has been influenced by their "sound teachings". I do not always agree with everything they say, but I do believe that they are ethical, honest, and sincere leaders that truly love God.

Romans 10:17

The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. But how can they hear the Gospel unless those of us who have tasted "heavenly things" are willing to share our faith with unbelievers? (Romans 10:9-17 suggested reading)

John 14:6

Jesus said to him "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me".

Steps to Christianity

First, we must accept Christ as the Son of God, believe in His death and resurrection, accept Him as our Savior and repent of our sins. To believe does not equal faith in God, but compliments our faith. To believe alone will not change your circumstances; faith activated will. The life of faith calls for action. Action requires going to work for God. Since we are all endowed with a gift, God expects us to use that gift. Faith plus action equals "good works". Faith alone cannot save us. Action (charity) alone cannot save us. We are saved by the Grace of God. The Christian life is one of faith plus action. Faith without corresponding works is (dead) useless (James 2:14). For further reading on spiritual gifts, see

I Corinthians 12: 3-8, I Peter 4:10.

"The Great Commission" Matthew 28:18-19

Jesus said: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit". To repeat myself, you can be part of this "great commission" by supporting the various ministries with your prayers ,finances, services and gifts.

Isaiah 1:16-17.

"Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow".

Isaiah 5:20.

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!"

Amos 5:14-15

"Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said. Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the courts; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to us".

Hosea 4:6

"My people are destroyed for lack of "sound" knowledge; because you have rejected "sound" knowledge, I also reject you as my (pastors) priests. And since you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children".

Proverbs 21:13

He who closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself cry out and not be heard.

I John 3:17-18

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth.

James 2:14-16

What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, "go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?

From the above quoted Scriptures, you will see how Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, summarized these verses. Please read Romans 1:18-32. Key verses 18 & 20-28. I Corinthians 2:1-16. Key verses 1-2, 5-8, 11-12 & 14. In order to understand the Scriptures, we must pray for God to grant us sound knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Also it is important not to read just a verse of a given Scripture, but to read the entire chapter. That means on occasions you might have to read the preceding and following chapters in order to grasp the full message. One of my mentors, (the late) Dr. J. Vernon McGee, suggested two ways to study the Bible (a) look at the it through a telescope (b) examine it through a microscope and God's Spirit will teach you. I have applied these methods to my daily studying of the Scriptures. Email us: Words of Comfort
