U.K. ALF attack Vodafone

A cell of the ALF has admitted responsibility for arson attacks against Vodafone. The communiqué seen by Arkangel on the US based website 'Biteback' is non specific about the nature of the attacks, stating only that: "On the night of 13th September ALF cells carried out arson attacks against Vodafone installations in the West Midlands and Buckinghamshire".

The communiqué goes on: "These attacks will continue until Oxford University and all those associated to it stop trying to build a new animal torture lab."

The short communiqué ends "For George", which is believed to refer to a rhesus macaque monkey that had been used by Oxford University vivisectors as an experimental tool. 'George' was the name given to the monkey by one of the university's vivisectors. His story only came to light after tip off from someone who was present during a lecture by the professor who had experimented on George and who, it is said, boasted of the experiments he had conducted on the monkey.

We have been told that, when talking to an audience, the professor in question (who had been investigated by police in November 2005 for cruelty to a monkey on whom he was experimenting) appeared to exhibit great satisfaction in detailing the injuries he had caused George, which entailed blinding George and, as part of the experiment, taking him outside in order to conduct perception tests on him.

We are unable to name the professor as Oxford University currently have an injunction against anyone naming individuals at the university. However, it is also known that the other monkey who was cruelly treated by the professor was named 'JEZ' and, according to an inside source at the university: "The monkey was suffering from a brain infection caused by electrodes being inserted into its brain, through a chamber in its head cap. The vets tried to treat the monkey but it was in too much pain and couldn't be helped." Our source goes on to describe how "the home office inspector demanded that the monkey be put down" but the professor "argued and refused" however "eventually he backed down but only after the monkey had suffered for a long time."

It is believed that the reason for the ALF attack is probably due to the fact that Oxford University's records show that in 2003, the Vodafone Group Foundation gave £184,494.14 to the university and in 2004/5 gave a further £206, 01843 (this information has yet to be confirmed).

It is also reported on the Biteback website that two Vodafone masts were attacked by the ALF in March of this year.
