I was born in 1968 in Plainfield New Jersey. I lived in South Plainfield until 1980 when my family moved to Orange Connecticut. In 1990 I earned a bachelor's degree in music from Boston University where I studied tuba with Sam Pilafian. In 1991 I earned my master's degree in music from Northwestern University where I studied with Rex Martin. I moved to Minnesota in 1992 to be closer to the woman who is now my ex-wife. Somewhere along the way, it occurred to me that music is much better as an avocation than as a profession. Three years of data entry eventually drove me back to school. I earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1998. For two years, I worked for a software company, Unigraphics Solutions, as an on-site CAD consultant for 3M Company in St. Paul. Following that, I worked for CDI, which did outsource design work for 3M, among others. I am currently severely underemployed.
I am still active as a musician. I play with the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band in Red Wing Minnesota. I have served on the band's board of directors and maintain its web site. I have played with various community in the Twin Cities area since 1992, and play the occasional professional job (I make maybe $400 per year).
I started collecting sports cards in 1974 and beer cans in 1977. I started collecting sports schedules in 1985, as they represent a nice crossover between brewery advertising and sports memorabilia. Since I registered with eBay in 1998, it has become much easier for me to find older sports schedules that I need. There is enough "good" material on eBay to take care of my collectibles budget.
I also enjoy poker and have been a regular at Canterbury Card Club since it opened. I play all games and all limits. My tournament record is modest, so you're not likely to see me on TV any time soon. The highlight of my poker career was playing $15/30 stud with Kirby Puckett.
