Welcome! This is where I put things about the college choir I'm in charge of. That's the Tampines Junior College Choir in Singapore. It is part of the Choral Excellence Programme and has so far, won a Gold award in every Singapore Youth Festival Choral Competition it has participated in. We also travel extensively on concert and competition tours. To date, we have been to Belgium, France and England in 1993, collecting a few top prizes in the Bournemouth Musicmaker's Festival Competition, and being named the Best Adult Choir. We have also been to Seoul and Hawaii in Dec 1994, and San Francisco in June 1996. Last year, in June 1998, we went on a competition tour to Europe, getting a Gold Award at the Musica Mundi Competition in Pohlheim, Germany, then touring Austria and Switzerland. So, please take a look around and enjoy yourself. I add new material regularly to keep my site fresh, so check back often!
Well, this is almost practically the whole gin-gang posing on Mt Titlis in Switzerland. All my lovely darlings! Aren't they cute? Can you spot where I am? Clue : I'm wearing scarf and reflective sunglasses. We weren't as crazy as the Victoria Chorale(Victoria Junior College Alumni Choir) - their guys stripped off their tops to see who could withstand the cold best! Brrrr.....We, on the other hand, were much more civilized. We sensibly went inside now and then to have a lovely mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows! Yummmm!!!
OK! I admit it. I'm vain. This is me posing against a hapless Sphinx at the Gardens in Austria somewhere - forgot where. It was only after the camera snapped that I thought to ask if my hands were covering any strategic spots! :o)
One of the reasons why we have so much fun in the choir is that everyone here shares a strong love for music and for singing. It's like one big happy family here. We sing whenever we're together, even while touring the special attractions of some foreign country or while travelling on the tour bus. The joy of singing holds us together. Perhaps it's appropriate that our annual public concert is named Plaisir de Chanson!(Joy of Song) And isn't music one of the most universal language in the world? We learn that every time we go overseas. Even during the competiition in Pohlheim, where we encountered choirs from Czechoslovakia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands and even Hong Kong, we understood them when they sang, because they were singing, and we were listening, with our hearts and souls, not just our ears!
