when of love I did not abide?

How could I so need you now

when I was gone when you needed me?

How could I have been so blind

when you were so wise to see?

How could I warm your cold heart

when I had hardened it to icy stone?

How could I seek your forgiveness

when I wouldn't allow you to atone?

How could I say that I want to give

when with words I took it all away?

How could I say, "Return to my heart?"

when it's elsewhere I told you to stay?

Because, throughout yesterday's youth

with all its stupidity found in sorrows,

you shall always reign in my reality

of yesterday's dreams for tomorrows.
