Thanks for looking!

For about a year I have been trying to figure
out what type of quilt to make my father.
I made the quilt called ‘Buggy Barn Crazy
Stars’ and while looking at all the red, white
and blue I thought what better colors to make
a U.S. Navy quilt with. This was my first
attempt to print pictures onto fabric. A photo
of dad in his 20’s while in the Navy and also
a picture of the ship that he was Chief on, The
U.S.S. Waverly, were set in the squares.
The anchor in the middle is appliquéd and the
backing is red fabric with overall anchors.
This is quilted with an all over star pattern.
He received this when he was 86 years old.
I received a 3rd place ribbon at the U.P. State Fair
where it was judged one day after his birthday.
Finished in January of 2004

This quilt was made with various fabrics
sent to me from quilting friends on
the internet. Once they learned I was
looking for fish to make my nephew’s
family a quilt, my mailbox was flooded
Scott is really into tropical fish. This is
also my first paper pieced project and
a great learning experience.
