completed November 2003
In October I visited the coffee house and
Decided that the décor needed a little sprucing
up. That night a plan to make something with
coffee cups emerged. I actually found the small
cup blocks already pieced on e-bay. The
weekend they arrived is when I put it all
together with fabrics that I already had. The
letters are cut from white flannel and ironed on
with fusible web. The batting is *Warm & Natural’.
Regina quilted it with all over stitching.

This is the first quilt, started October 2002.
It is also the one that started me getting
into this great hobby. Some friends and I
gathered on Saturday’s in a converted chicken
coop. What fun! It’s a Sampler. I entered it
in the Upper Peninsula State Fair and won a
Second Place red ribbon in August of 2003.
This quilt is going to my son and his lady –
( Bob & Aum) for Christmas of 2003.

This quilt was made for Ryan to take up to NMU
and find a home in his college dorm. It never quite
made it up there as my machine started missing
stitches and wasn’t sewing as well as I wanted.
Because of that I put it away for awhile and then
a year later I went over the stitches that were missed
the first time around. This is another in the series of
recycled jean quilts I had a whim to make. The circles
were cut from a pattern of a large coffee can and
the middle is made of 100% cotton denim look fabric.
This is a very large/ heavy quilt and does not have
batting. I kept track of the thread used while making
this and I used 9 spools. (2700 yards of blue thread!)

The blue one is made
from the same (recycled jeans) and it’s called a
Rail Fence pattern.
It sure has a personality of it’s own.
Aum’s quilt was made from
recycled dungarees (jeans or blue jeans)
whatever you want to call them. J
Because of the cost of fabric for making
quilts I thought it would be fun to visit
our local thrift shop and see what they
had. I was amazed at all the different
colors and really had fun putting this
together. Aum received this for her
birthday in August of 2002.

I call this the Christmas Tree Throw -it is
made of greens, whites, & reds.
This quilt is not backed or batted. Every time
I wash it there will a be slight fraying and it will
become more snuggly. It was a fun one to see
come together.
