Drusilla danced around in loose circles,
giggling as Miss Edith spoke to her...
"Miss Edith says that Daddy is ready to play
with the nice Slayer, my Spike..."
Spike looked up from his newspaper. The
vampire was seated at the table in their new residence. It had been
several months since he had discovered that he wasn't as crippled as they'd
thought.
The Slayer had had her baby two months
ago. A little girl that they had named Emily. Drusilla had danced
around the mansion the day before the birth, muttering about her new little
sister.
"That's nice, pet," Spike told her.
Silently, the vampire was cheering. Finally, Angelus would be out of the
mansion for longer that it took to find food, and he'd be taking the Slayer and
the little brat with him.
For the past eight months, Angelus had the
Slayer staying in, so as not to harm herself, or the child, needlessly. In
that time, Spike had been their object of ridicule. It would be a change
to have a quiet night, and no moans, grunts and high-pitched screams of pleasure
echoing throughout the mansion.
"I'm going to be a Mummy..." Dru whispered
dreamily.
Spike nearly missed her last comment. He
couldn't possibly have heard correctly. "What was that,
pet?"
Dru smiled conspiritally as she brought her doll
to her ear. "Miss Edith says that I'm going to be a Mummy tonight.
Daddy's taking the Slayer dancing...dancing on ice..."
Spike cursed. His Dru would be stuck with
the kid. Naturally, he would be stuck with most of the
work...
"Dru?" Buffy's voice floated down the
stairs to their ears.
"Slayer..." Drusilla whispered happily to Miss
Edith as she slowly made her way up the stairs to Buffy.
*~*~*
Angelus was laid back on the bed, Emily tucked
up nicely against his broad chest. The vampire stroked his daughter's dark
hair. She was Daddy's little girl, complete with the yellow eyes and cute
little fangs when she was hungry or angry.
Whoever said that babies can't communicate what
the want, obviously hadn't met the daughter of the Slayer and her angelic
vampire...
Drusilla glided into the room with Buffy.
It was quite obvious that she knew what was to happen that night, and was more
that pleased. Being the child of the Slayer, Emily was a delightful target
for any vampire or demon who dared to try their luck, but being the child of
Angelus...well, his name was enough of a deterrent.
Angelus carefully rose from the bed, gently
cradling his young daughter to him, and crossed over to the bassinet. He
slowly placed her inside, crooning softly at the first sign of her
awakening.
Buffy watched her lover, and the father of her
child. She still couldn't believe that this, the evilest of the current
vampire population had been tamed. By a human...by a
Slayer. He was so beautifully loving with his daughter, and while
Buffy had been pregnant, he had waited on her hand and foot, something that had
to be seen to be believed.
Strangely enough, Drusilla had also been in on
the pampering. She had openly welcomed Buffy into the fold, proclaiming in
her own way that Buffy and her baby were family. Buffy knew that they
were, in some way, but for Drusilla of all the vampires in the world to declare
it...well, it was an occasion for a Slayer holiday.
Early on, before Angelus had conned Buffy into
no more slaying while pregnant, Buffy had set the rules. She didn't want
to know what they did at night, especially if it had something to do with
killing people, and as long as they stayed out of her visual range, the wouldn't
not wake up the next night with a stake in the heart.
In the beginning, some of the minions had been
cocky, had openly defied her orders, thinking that Angelus would never let her
stake them. They had probably realized their error when they woke up in
Hell.
Angelus had issued a warning to the
others. He would support his Slayer, and if any of them were stupid enough
to openly defy her, then they deserved what they got.
Everyone understood that Buffy was their
mistress, ranking even higher that Drusilla, their Master's favorite
childe. Drusilla didn't seem to mind, though. She was too busy doing
Buffy's hair and nails when the task got to tedious as the pregnancy
progressed.
Buffy would've given anything to have captured
Spike and Angelus' faces on film when they had walked in on that
scene. Crazy Dru, doing the Slayer's hair and nails...
Angelus ushered Buffy and Drusilla out of the
bedroom. Emily was asleep, and he wanted to keep it that way for as long
as possible.
Drusilla giggled when Angelus swept Buffy up
into his arms, then over his shoulder. She followed her sire as he carried
his lover down the stairs, calling out a "We'll be back before dawn!" as he
carried her out of the mansion and to the car.
It wasn't five minutes after the couple had
left, when Emily began crying...
Spike covered his ears as Dru went up stairs and
picked up her little charge, holding her close and crooning softly. Spike
finally got sick of the noise and began yelling. "Shut that bloody kid up,
would you, Dru!"
The vampiress carried the tiny bundle down the
stairs. She paused in front of Spike. "But Spike, baby Emily will go
back to sleep if you hold her...she likes you..."
Spike scowled. "If the little beggar is at
all like her parents, she'll have something to say against me..." The
vampire glared at his sire when she looked at him with a sad and disappointed
expression. "Oh, bloody Hell, Ducks. Give me the kid."
Dru grinned in her vacant way as she handed the
child to him. She started dancing around the room again, singing the
child's rhyme 'Ring Around The Roses'...
Spike rolled his eyes. "Pet, I don't think
that Peaches and the Slayer would appreciate you singing about the plague around
their little precious."
Dru immediately changed her tune...
Spike looked down at the squalling child in his
arms. "Be quiet, kid." To his surprise, she stopped crying and
started blowing him raspberries. Then she grinned up at him. Spike
carefully sat down on a nearby chair and rocked her in his arms.
The vampire was slowly becoming enchanted by the
little brat. And just as quickly, she was falling asleep, her tiny eyelids
slowly shielding her eyes as she drifted off. "Well, I'll be bloody
damned," he murmured softly when he realized that she was sound
asleep.
Drusilla started dancing her way up the stairs,
motioning for him to follow. He did so. She led him into the Slayer
and Peaches' bedroom. Spike put Emily back in her bassinet and gazed down
at her face.
"Dance with me, Spike..." Drusilla
whispered as Spike continued to stare at the child who had wrapped herself
around his unbeating heart.
Spike grinned. It was obvious that he had
his princess back. The only downside to the day was that he now had a
fondness for the Slayer's kid. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
And Dru liked the kid, so he didn't mind so much...
*~*~*
"So, how do you think they're getting on?"
Angelus asked his lover as they glided across the ice.
Buffy laughed. "Dru isn't anywhere near as
crazy as you all believe..."
Angelus raised an eyebrow. "Oh,
really?"
She held up her hands. "Don't look at me
like that, Angelus! She came to me and told me what she wanted, her Spike
back..."
The vampire scowled. "Is that why you
wanted to leave our child with that bleached airhead?"
"He's your grandchilde..." Buffy
chuckled.
"Like I had any say in the matter."
"Well, actually..." Buffy's retort was cut
off by another skater crashing into her.
The Slayer groaned as Angelus grabbed the kid by
the neck. He brought him close to his face and growled. "If you so
much as look at her the wrong way, I'll put my arm down your throat and pull out
your lungs."
Buffy buried her face in her hands as she sat on
the ice. As always, Angelus was overreacting. When the poor kid
began shaking, Buffy stuck her foot out and kicked her lover, just to get him
off track.
Unfortunately, Buffy had forgotten that she was
wearing her skates. Angelus dropped the boy, who scrambled to his feet and
skated off to the side, running for his locker to get the Hell out of
there.
Meanwhile, the vampire stared down at his
bleeding leg. "Buffy..." his growl was threatening.
"Oh-oh..." Buffy quickly followed the boy's
example and made a beeline for her locker and nicked off before Angelus could
shake off his surprise and follow her.
She would be in for some delightful punishment
when he caught up to her...
