~*~ Andy and Antonio Spend the Night at the Diner~*~
Antonio and Andy had been at Antonio's soon to be apartment, when Cris and Jessica showed up. Cris told him that the boiler was broken. Antonio rushed to the Diner and found out that it was going to be expensive to get fixed. Andy shows up and surprises him...
Antonio comes out from the back and sees Andy sitting in a booth, with lighted candles surrounding her. He looks on the ground and sees sleeping bags. He grins and she smiles back at him.
Antonio: "What's all this?"
Andy: "In case you didn't notice, it's gonna take a lot more than a broken boiler to get rid of me."
Antonio walks over to the booth.
Antonio: "You know I've…I've never been to a party before to celebrate a broken boiler."
Andy: "What a coincidence. I've never thrown one before. So are we having fun yet?"
Antonio: (Smiles and sits down across from her) "Oh yeah. Too bad you didn't bring along a bottle of wine."
Andy: (Smiles and pulls out a bottle of wine, and sets it on the table) "It was cheap, but it was a good month."
Antonio: "You're unbelievable. I can't believe you wanna spend the whole night here, baby-sitting a broken boiler. It's gonna be tiring, it's gonna be dirty and it's probably gonna be cold."
Andy: (Grins) "Then maybe we can slide into that sleeping bag and…warm each other up. Or, if you'd rather I could take a hike and you could curl up with the stone cold furnace."
Antonio looks a little annoyed.
Antonio: "Look, if you want to spend the night, that's fine, but lose the candles and turn the music off because I'm not in the mood for a party."
Andy: "Come on. Things aren't that bad. You got the boiler going again."
Antonio: "Yeah for now. But with dumb luck and chewing gum, what happens when it breaks down and I can't fix it? And the pipes will freeze."
Andy: "So…just thaw it out with a blow dryer."
Antonio: "Not, if they freeze and burst. Then…then…then a nine hundred dollar problem becomes a twenty thousand dollar one, and I ain't exactly got that lying around. As a matter of fact, after paying the mortgage on the Diner and the rent on my new apartment. All I've got is…(Takes money out of his pocket and begins to count it.) fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen dollars and…fifty cents."
He gets up, annoyed.
Andy: (Gets up and walks over to him.) "All right, look, I know you got problems but I just think that these are things that can be dealt with."
Antonio: "Yeah…yeah they can. I hope. You're probably right. We should probably party. I mean uh…for tomorrow…how does that go?"
Andy laughs. She takes him in her arms and they begin to kiss passionately.
Antonio: "And the cops broke in and found them frozen in each other's arms."
They are kissing again.
Andy: "You know what that was? Besides a truly amazing kiss? That was real progress Vega. Six months ago you would have said, take a hike I can fix this broken boiler on my own."
Antonio: "I can."
Andy: "I know but that's what makes this thing so great is that you want me to stick around and help out."
Antonio: "So in an hour from now when the boiler breaks down again and your freezing your butt off…"
Andy: "You'll be thinking this is a lousy night but at least I had Andy to share it with. I got news for you pal; your days as a loner are history. (She laughs a little bit. She pours them both some wine and hands Antonio a glass.) We're a team now. And when the going gets rough I'm not going anywhere."
Antonio: "Tell me something I don't know. I mean it. You know I've never met anybody like you. I mean…I've known beautiful …but beautiful and strong?"
Andy: "I've never known anybody like you either. So, here's to getting better acquainted."
They toast each other. And continue to stare into each other's eyes.
They are lying in their sleeping bags, still awake.
Antonio: "Hey keep it down over there. I can hear you thinking."
Andy: "About what, Mister ESP?"
Antonio: "Marty and Dylan."
Andy: "That's spooky. How did you do that?"
Antonio: "I was thinking about them too."
Andy: "Why?"
Antonio: "I don't know. Getting married and making a commitment takes a lot of guts."
Andy: "Well not if you don't even know how good the commitment is gonna be. It's kinda like what happened with Hunter and me. We were young and loved each other and…we thought that was enough. He started to go through some bad times and then he…he got abusive and I…I mean I couldn't help him because I didn't even know who he was anymore."
Antonio: "Do you ever think you really know who a person is? I mean deep inside?"
Andy: "Yes…I do…but it's hard…cause a person has to trust you. But I think that once that person does trust you then I think, I hope, then the fear goes away."
Antonio: "What fear?"
Andy: "The fear of letting someone you love look in your heart. Even the place you're afraid of yourself."
Antonio: "You know, you're amazing. I mean the way you just…believe in people. Sometimes I wish I had that kind of faith. You know…I…I got one question to ask you. What's up with you and these loser guys?"
Antonio: "You went from a husband who beat you and then you start going out with Kevin Buchanan, who breaks up with you long distance from London. I don't get it. I mean, why did he do that Harrison? Is he crazy?"
Antonio doesn't get a response; he turns over and sees that Andy is sleeping. There is a knock on the door. It is Javier Perez. He is there to ask Antonio about the boiler problem and says that he is protecting RJ's investment. He can't be making a profit while the customers are freezing too death. He is basically there just to cause problems, like always. Andy wakes up as Antonio comes back in.
Andy: "Antonio was somebody here?"
Antonio: "No honey, look, it was just um…it was just some bum who thought we were open all night. Why don't you try and get back to sleep, if you can. I know it's cold. I think the packs that I put on the boiler must have rattled itself off."
Andy: "Well can you fix it?"
Antonio: "Hey I can fix anything. I'm El Leon, remember?"
Antonio goes to fix it. Andy smiles at him as he goes and then she falls back asleep.
