... Andy & Antonio Scenes From OLTL

        ~*~Antonio and Kevin Meet~*~

Kevin has just asked Andy if he stands a chance with her and he goes on to ask her how serious things are with Antonio. She tells him that she’s in love with Antonio...

Antonio walks in and stares at them from a distance. Kevin takes Andy’s hand in his. Antonio stands at the table waiting for them to notice him. Andy looks up and jolts her hand out of Kevin’s immediately.

Andy: (Startled) “Antonio? I thought you were working tonight?”

Antonio: “I am. I wanted to talk to you.”

Kevin: (Gets up and extends his hand to Antonio) “Kevin Buchanan. You must be Antonio Vega, I’ve heard a lot about you.” (They shake hands. Kevin sits down.) “Why don’t you sit down and join us.”

        Antonio sits down.

There is a waiter at the table waiting to take their order.

Kevin: “Neil, would you get our friend some… (Gestures to Antonio, who says nothing) Coffee? (Antonio just stares at him) Coffee please."

        Waiter: “Sure Mr. Buchanan.”

        Kevin: “Thank you.”

The waiter leaves the table. Antonio is tapping his fingers on the table like he’s annoyed. Andy tries to put her hand on his but he takes his hand away.

Antonio: “Tell me uh…Kevin…what have you heard about me?”

Kevin: “Well I kept up with the Llaniview paper while I was away. Followed Andy’s trial pretty closely.”

Antonio: (His arms folded at his chest) “I’ll bet.”

Kevin: “Also read where Uncle Bo recruited you out of Statesville to go undercover with Andy on the gun sales in Angel Square.”

Andy: (Puts her hand on Antonio’s shoulder.) “You know it was Antonio that flushed out the bad cop. You know he did a great job too, although he about drove me crazy. (Andy is laughing and Antonio looks like he is uncomfortable.) Uh…He…He cleaned up Angel Square practically single handily.”

Antonio: “That’s not even close to true. It was a neighborhood aching to turn itself around and its still got a long way to go. So what brings you back to Llainview?”

Kevin: “I was away from home long enough. I lived a lot over in England, but, it was time to come back.”

        Antonio: “Back? To the Banner?”

Kevin: “Yeah. You know, learn globally, work locally to paraphrase. Now I’d like to concentrate on the issues and problems that effect my community and the solutions that are out there. Basically I’d like to pick up where I left off.”

Antonio looks upset, knowing that he was with Andy before he took off.

        Antonio now has his coffee.

Antonio: “Ugh! Somebody here will have to teach them how to make a decent cup of coffee.”

Andy: (Giggles a little bit) “Well they certainly can’t compete with you. You know Antonio and his family own the Diner over at Angel Square.”

        Kevin: “By the High School?"

Andy: “Mm…Hmm..Jessica works there after school.”

Kevin: “Good, it’s about time she learned how to make an honest buck. Actually, I think she’s more interested in staying close to your little brother. I ran into them earlier and they seemed…how should we say t his…happy together.”

Antonio: “Yeah…your sister's a good kid. I like Jessica. (Looks at his watch and turns to Andy) Look, I gotta get back to the law library and finish that research for Nora, but, I really wanna talk to you.”

Andy: “Well…well, I think we are about done here so um…we could go.”

Kevin: (Immediately jumps up from the table.) “No. Hey, look you guys stay. I got plenty of people I could go say hello to. Take your time. (Antonio reaches into his pocket for his wallet to pay for the coffee) Antonio, thank you but I’ll sign for it. It was very nice to meet you. (Kevin looks at Andy) Andy, it was great to see you again.”

He smiles at her and walks away from the table.

Andy: (Sighs) “You’re not mad that I had coffee with Kevin are you?”

        Antonio: (Grinning) “No.”

Andy: (Is holding Antonio’s hand) “Antonio hey…”

Antonio: “Look, lets just get out of here before I start thinking that signing for it is somehow different than paying for it. (They get up.) If I start getting this itch to buy uh…tennis clothes in the middle of March and green golf pants...’

Andy and Antonio leave. Both are laughing.
