2004
Thanks to everybody who have helped and supported us over the years (1999-2002).
The anime, comic and gaming market has grown and evolved into critical mass and we are all happy to see our friends Culture Crash, Ragnarok, Toy Collectible Conventions, Animax, etc. come into fray. We are glad that we are all part of this growth. Memories of the early days are stored in this website and we hope you will all continue to support all the anime, comic, gaming, jpop/jrock, (and even yaoi) events.
See you all at the events!!!
Sept 10, 2002
Thanks to all the fans
who went to the Anime Revue Special at Filipinas Heritage
Library. Congratualtions to the contest winner who picked an
X-Box as the game console of his choice. Also congrats to the
raffle winners. It was a rainy day but quite a number managed to
appear last Saturday.
From this month onwards, monthly Anime Revues will be reduced to
quarterly events. Our tie up with PowerBooks has been upgraded
from film showings. We will announce up and coming events very
soon. Right now, there is a big event brewing.
As for AXN, they will be having an ECO Challenge in Manila
sometime in November. How will they ever do such a thing here?
Well, watch out for details from their website and cable feeds.
We saw quite a number of fans trooping to see Japanese movies
shown in Cinemanila (especially the RING marathon) and the
currently ongoing EIGA SAI (now happening at the PCI Bank Tower
Makati Avenue). The RING marathon was extremely packed during
several days in Greenbelt cinema 1. They had to reshow it several
times coz the theater couldn't accomodate the hordes of fans who
wanted to get scared by SADAKO.
For Jrock fans, we now accept orders for recopies of Dir En Gray cds. New recopies available include new TETSU69 single, Six Ugly (Dir EN Gray) and Hyde's new Album (Roentgen). Please email us for details or drop by the shop.
For those who are into
live action, you can order from us recopies of the following
movies (all english subbed): WaterBoys, Battle Royale, Brother,
Ring 1 and 2, Tokyo Bayside Shakedown, Gohatto, etc. Email us for
inquiries.
We hope to see you all very soon....as we get involved with soon
to happen Anime related events.
You can visit our shop (ANIMA ANIME) at the 2nd floor FBR Arcade
Katipunan Ave QC.
Arigato!

Welcome to Anima Anime! where we will give away
a game console of your choice.
Thanks to the fans who braved the storm and the floods just to
make it to last Saturday's Anime Revue at PowerBooks (July 20,
2002). Films that were shown include: Angelic Layer (eps 12-14),
Metropolis, Initial D The Movie and the hilarious WaterBoys (Live
Action). It was good that the event finished a bit early since
the rains worsened late during the night. Congratulations to the
raffle winners too!
We would like to thank AXN Asia, PowerBooks, Klenco, Culture
Crash and our friends for their continued support.
We hope to see all of you very soon! (And we hope it doesn't rain
again next time!)
Visit the Anima Anime shop at the 2nd floor FBR Arcade, Katipunan
Avenue QC with tel number 4345829.

We accept orders for Culture Crash Comics. You can send us the payment and we can deliver via FEDEX. Since early this week, rumours of AXN's Anime
Festival being canceled have been circulating. Sad to say, it is
true that the AXN Anime Festival ground celebration scheduled
supposedly at the SM Megamall this July is indeed canceled.
According to AXN, it was a management decision and it is
purposely done in order to think of other creative and innovative
ways to promote AXN and Anime without falling to redundancy. AXN
has yet to issue an official statement. However, it is confirmed
that the event is canceled. Quite disappointing, yes.
AXN is not even doing its Anime Festival in other countries. The
most it will do is continue its sponsorship of the HK Comic
convention slated this early August. If there are cosplayers who
want to join the HK event, you have to pre-qualify in elimation
rounds in HK prior to the convention. For details, we suggest
that you go to the HK Comic Convention website (although it is in
chinese).
All is not lost. As AXN tries to rethink its approach in
marketing anime, we were told that AXN has prepared a few new
titles that they will show in the next couple of weeks and during
the Anime Marathon. These titles include Saiyuki and Ayashi No
Ceres. You can check the other titles at their website. You can
even participate in the Anime On Demand Poll to vote for what
anime you want to be shown during the marathon. Also, in a few
weeks, we will be giving away AXN Anime posters during our Anime
Revue events.

Welcome to Anima Anime! where
the World Cup fever is on.
---ANIME REVUE---

Congrats to the raffle winners!
---CULTURE CRASH---
Anima Anime is also in cahoots with Culture Crash. Culture Crash
just released issue number 8 and is available at the Anima Anime
shop. For those looking for back issues, Anima Anime is the only
outlet where you can get most of the other volumes. Point Zero
Comics (an affiliate of Culture Crash) is also selling Indie
Comic releases at about P20-P25 each. Titles include Cresci
Prophecies (Vol 1-2), Kubori Kikiam, and Modus.
Artists and comic artists interested in submitting their
independent works could mail it to Culture Crash. For details,
check out ISSUE 8 of CCOM.
---ETC---
Anima Anime is located at the 2nd floor FBR Arcade Katipunan
Avenue Quezon City in front of Ateneo. With telephone numbers
4345829. Shop hours : 11 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday. We accept
orders for original anime, jpop, jrock, and any available
japanese merchandise.
Yes, we are a Jrock/Jpop shop too! Our suppliers of such are
perpetual fanatics that conduct internet trading of related goods
internationally. They usually hangout at the shop everyday.
So is there too much anime? Is there anime burnout excess? Are
anime collectors secretly buying spiderman and star wars
merchandise? Are anime fans stuck on becoming just fans? Or are
they evolving to become eventual jrock fanatix or Takeshi Kitano
freaks or end up in Japan with a scholarship but liking Arashi in
the process? Do you feel exhilirated with just reading posts at
Anime MLs, ranting and arguing with another fan. Do you try your
best to be in the anime limelight so that you can get chicks and
declare yourself the Anime King of Fighters? Or are you just an
incidental anime fan that still listens to westlife? Has someone
told you to get a life?
Something to think about ne? Cya!
May 12, 2002
Thanks to the fans who joined us last May 11, 2002 at PowerBooks Makati. Films that were shown include Studio Ghibli's I Can Hear The Ocean (plus a preview of the Ghibli Museum), Gohatto (A live action film featuring shinsengumi...), Fruits Basket episodes 11 -18, GateKeepers21 OAV, plus preview of Shaolin Soccer (a cheesy HK movie). Pinoitto was not able to come so we failed to reshow the new RK Seisouhen OAVs. Hopefully we can do it next month. Congratulations to the raffle winners!
April 27, 2002
Thanks to the night crowd that filled the Manila Film Center Amphitheater at the CCP Complex last April 26, 2002 Friday. The event started around 7 pm with a couple of classic independent animations. By 7:30 pm, Ponpoko (Modern Racoon Wars), a Ghibli movie directed by Takahata-san last 1994, was shown. Then a couple of Pinoitto MTVs were shown. Soon after, Cowboy Bebop the Movie was rolling. After another MTV plus a break of a couple of minutes, it was time for the much awaited Rurouni Kenshin Seisouhen parts 1 and 2. It was almost past 12 midnight when RK was shown. The new translation (by Pinoitto) provided more understanding as to what really happened (compared to the poorly subbed VCDs available at the market now). Even after the end, people couldn't help but talk about the details of the new OAVs which has somehow made RRK into a kind of literary masterpiece. We all called it a night at almost 2 am. It was a great event. (Posters of the AXN Drawing Contest were also given away.) Thanks to CCP, Mr. Ed Cabagnot and Pinoitto! Thanks to all the fans!
March 17, 2002
Welcome to Anima Anime where

Initial D (ep 25-26 first stage, ep 1-3 second stage)

Rurouni Kenshin OAV Seisouhen Part 2 Preview (with subtitles)

The date of the April Anime Revue at PowerBooks will be announced

February 17, 2002
Welcome to Anima
Anime where Fruits Basket isn't edible.
Thanks to the fans who went to the last Anime Revue last Feb 16,
2002 and had more than a mouthful of Fruits Basket! It was an
'eat all you can' Fruits Basket marathon from episodes 1 to 10.
We started off with Touch the Movie and then showed I Me My
Strawberry Egg (eps 1-2) and Love Hina Again in between episodes
4 and 5 of Fruits Basket. We even showed bits of Love Hina Live
in Concert (featuring Megumi Hayashibara).
January 20, 2002
We cannot thank all you fans enough for a massive support that you displayed last January 19, 2002 at the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati City. Our RELAUNCH Party was a milestone in the local anime scene with most of the people who we know in the industry showing up and offering support. As Anima Anime enters into a new phase in its organization, as we slowly change our structure to better accomodate the needs of the fans, we are hoping for continued support. From a rag-tag team of losely organized individuals, we are now pooling our resources together to be better equipped in serving your needs now and in the near future. So don't be surprised if we finally have our very own shop. Watch out for announcements very soon.
The RELAUNCH Party was intended to give focus to Anima Anime's business side. We would like to send the message that supporting us meant supporting the general fan base. As we use profits from our business side to fuel larger and better events to accomodate the fans, we are also inspired to come up with better ideas and promotions like the DVD Player Contest and our up and coming mega contest (We're giving away a game console of your choice : PS2, X-Box or Game Cube sometime mid-2002).
Anima Anime is the only group or company that gives back to the fans what they pay for in service and support. A manga, DVD, cd, vcd or an artbook that you purchase can go a long way if you think about it. No other business entity does that. And as we enter our 3rd year in operation, we are proud that the fans are much a part of this venture as each and every member of Anima Anime.
Enough of the serious talk. The film showing started around 1 pm. Before 1 pm, test runs included snipets from Every Little Thing Video Collection, Ninja Scroll (DVD), X-Zero (DVD), Metropolis (DVD). The films showing proper started with an introduction of a L'ARC N CIEL PS1 game preview (tomarunner vs L'arc N Ciel) featuring Niji. FILM SHOWING - Battle Royale (english subbed), Vampire Hunter D (DVD Theatrical Release), Rurouni Kenshin OAV 2 Seisouhen Part 1(DVD Limited Release with Seiyuu interviews), Pinoitto Anime MTVs (Cooking Master Boy, Final Fantasy 10, Yuyu Hakusho, Mazinkaiser), Read Or Die (eps 2), Berserk Episode 1 (DVD), Fruits Basket Volume 2 (due to insistent public demand).
Thanks to those who brought food and sake for a potluck lunch. Thanks to Manila Nights. Thanks to Cecille of Filipinas Heritage Library, Ed Cabagnot of CCP, James Palabay of Culture Crash, Benjie of Pinoitto, Juan Miro restaurant (c/o Kalvin the assorted manager), Vanessa of PowerBooks, Klenco Industries, AXN, congrats to Neo for winning the DVD player and thanks to the 130+ fans who made the event successful.
So who won the DVD Player contest? The entry that was written and sung to the tune of Sobakasu. And yes, he was called up to the front to sing his entry much to the fans' amusement and to others' displeasure. It was an original idea. Anyway, he technically won by default as two other finalists didn't show up. He will receive his DVD player within the next two weeks. In the meantime, he can stock on pirated and original DVDs. You can email us if you want a copy of his entry.
December 16, 2001
Anime Revue (Dec. 15, 2001). What a surprise indeed! The event

Sakura Taisen OVA 2 opening theme

appeared on screen...Kenshin! Yes, (much to everybody else's
surprise -- even ours), Kenshin's new OAV "Seisouhen Part
I" -- english subbed was shown! It was a 10 minute digi-sub
teaser for the ultimate material that we shall show very soon.
Coming soon... a more accurate and faithful english subtitle
(than the poorly translated digi-sub) that will be shown (and
available) very soon.
SPECIAL OFFER : The people who were present at the Anime Revue
were lucky recepients of a very special offer. Everybody there
was offered a package that consists of 4 VCDS of the complete
3-volume, 6-episode series of Sakura Taisen (wars) OAV II that
has excellent quality with excellent and gramatically correct and
accurate english subtitle PLUS a bonus : the RRK new OAV that was
shown (the ten minute digi-sub) --- all for a cheap price of
P250!!! A lot of fans grabbed the opportunity and signed up.
Sorry...but only those who attended are the only ones who can
avail of the promo.
THANK YOUs : Thanks to everybody who continue to support us and
the local anime scene. All these events will not be possible
without all your help. Special Thanks to AXN for their unyielding
support. Congrats to the many raffle winners the past year. We
hope to see you all in better events as we all grow together.
Many thanks also to PowerBooks for their generous support.
See you all at the events!
