We have
come together today to pay tribute to the life and the memory of
dear little
GEORGIEANNA MAY HAUFF- GREEN.
a much loved little girl.
I have been asked to express the thanks of georgieanna's family to each of
you for your love and support during these difficult months. Family
support has been wonderful, as has the support of friends.. and they are
very grateful to each of you.
A special word of thanks also to Dr Cartwright and all the nurses and
staff at the Royal Women's Hospital who took Georgieanna into their hearts
. Carol, calling her her their little rose bud, Claire, Alison and
so many others.. it was the nursing staff who called Georgieanna
"their quiet achiever"
Just these gentle comments meant such a great deal to Georgieanna's
family. The love shown to these children and their dedication to helping
infants like Georgieanna is exceptional and we pay tribute to each and
everyone of them here today and say "THANK YOU"
There doesn't seem to be any point in searching for meaning or sense, nor
rhyme or reason, as to why it had to be the time for Georgieanna's little
life to end. rather, I think we all tend to feel a deep, deep sorrow that
she was not to experience the full joy of life, that she was not given the
opportunity to grow and to explore, and to learn, laugh and to play.
And yet, there is one thing that can never be taken away from you.. and
that , of course, is the experience of loving and having been loved.
Love has flowed from your hearts, right from the time of little
Georgieanna's conception.. and from that time on she was truly part of
your family. She has been a treasured gift. a beautiful little girl, a
much loved daughter.
This was the daughter you had dreamed of. The daughter Sharon and Eddie
longed to hold , to spoil, to nurture and to watch grow into a beautiful
young lady.
But this family picture has been torn apart by tragedy .. Eddie has lost
his life earlier this year, never realising his dreams for his daughter.
And sadly, Georgieanna lost her battle just 3 Months later.
It's hard to believe there is anything positive about the tragedies this
family has endured. Their lives have been turned upside down.
There are no real words of comfort that can cushion the shock we
experience when we are faced with the sudden death of one we love.. Even
more so, when that death is the death of a young child..
This is a time for all of us to give thought to the importance of little
Georgieanna's being, and to learn a new appreciation for the glory of
life. Sadly, we realise today that everything that we hold dear to us,
everything that we take for granted in this life, can be gone at a
moment's notice.
This truly is a time for us to realise just how precious every single
moment of life really is.
Some times, a life is lived in a space of a single breath, or perhaps just
a little heart beat. Sometimes. we are blessed with their precious love
for just a few short days. or perhaps a few weeks, or months.
Sadly, in each of these situations, A tiny little life has been taken,
before it really starts.
No matter how long Georgieanna has been a part of your lives, her brief
life was no less precious than one whose life is measured in years.. and
the pain of your loss is no less real.
Only time will ease and dull the heartache which is felt by those who
would have played a role in this little one's life. But you, who loved
her, are left with a memory of knowing Georgieanna was such a
beautiful baby.. You will never forget her. She is a child who has
taught you just a little bit more about strength, about courage, about
understanding and support. She has taught you the true meaning of giving,
of caring, of sharing, and of love.
This is perhaps her legacy... Let
us now take a quiet moment of reflection as we give thought to the
influence Georgieanna has had on our lives, as we listen to the beautiful
piece of music,

you know, this has been a very special time for both Sharon And Eddie.
because during the time they shared together with little Georgieanna they
learned more about each other.. they learned more about family.. and their
love for each other developed to much deeper levels. Georgieanna
was a much loved baby. A very special child. Although she did not have the
opportunity to explore the wonders of this world and to achieve a long and
fulfilled life , she knew that love that surrounded her as she was
nurtured along the path to life.
Not all babies have such love surrounding them, Georgieanna was one of the
lucky ones. Here was a little girl who was given only a 10% chance of
survival at the time of her birth. But it was love and dedication, not
only from Sharon and Eddie, but from everyone this little girl has touched
, that helped this little child go from strength to strength. Ands
with each day as she grew stronger and developed her own little
personality there was more and more hope. Undoubtedly
you have shared hopes and dreams for Georgieanna's future. You have been
full of expectations. Each day was one of anticipation and a wonderful
bond had already formed between you.
But when a tragedy occurs . when our dreams are shattered .. a void is
left. There seems to be nothing but emptiness.
Of
the thousands of stars we saw last night ,
One stood out , so clear, so bright,
It was twinkling happily, in heaven above
It was out of reach, but it inspired love, We
wondered what that star could see ?
Could it see us standing, looking up at thee?
Has it seen the past, does it know what is coming ?
Does it see our pain? Does it know our longing? It
sits up there , night after night
As life marches on, be it for wrong or for right.
Then a silently drifting cloud came by,
And hid our star, concealing it from our eyes. Our
star was gone, no more to see,
But we knew it was there, and it will always be ,
Just because something cannot be seen,
Does not mean it cannot exist.. or has never been, Georgieanna
did exist.. she was here..
She gave us a new feeling of love..
She gave such joy.. but now she has gone on. "
Georgieanna, as darkness of nightfall
surrounds us at the end of each day, we
we shall look to the heavens and
choose four
special stars for you. These stars will
remain with each of us for eternity and
will always have special meaning. The
first will represent love.. know, our little one,
that you will always have the unconditional
love of your family. The
second one will be for peace..
that wherever you are, you will always be at peace. The
third is for remembrance..
We will never forget you, sweet baby.
You will be in our hearts evermore. The
fourth is for togetherness..
A special star for you to share with your Daddy.
We take our comfort today in the knowledge
that you are safe, held now forevermore in
the arms of your father who loved you
so dearly. LET
US PRAY Lord
It is with deep sadness that we gather here
today to say farewell to the mortal life of our beautiful
special little girl Georgieanna.
for hers is a life we can no longer share. Although
this tragedy has been so
overwhelming for all who were to love her,
we accept that the purpose of all living is to
teach about love and to help to give others
strength and some hope.. But we know,
too, that death opens the door to the glory
of living. Lord,
on the wings of death and sorrow,
please send us new hope for tomorrow.
Help us to be strong, and to cope with
our loss. We put our hands in the hands of
God and ask you to lead us through this
time of darkness. We
know, now, that our little Georgieanna,
is in your care.. that you hold her close in
your arms today.. together with Eddie. Lord.
give Georgieanna your blessing.
Welcome her to your home and to your heart.
May she be lighthearted, happy and free,
playing in gods promised land where
there is joy eternally.
We ask this in Jesus' name.
AMEN. Sadly,
as much as everyone so desperately
wanted this life to develop and to grow,
this was not to be Georgieanna's time. This
experience in your loves has caused a
time of growth. It has been a time of learning. It
has been a time for reaching out,
and a time for accepting. Georgieanna's
life has brought a strength
into the lives of those who loved her. You
wont forget this little angel
and you wont want to. There are many things
that will remind you of her. But
the time has come for us now,
to let go of Georgieanna, and to take comfort
in knowing her little life has given so much
pleasure.. that this little one really was
someone who was loved so very much,
and gave you all so much joy in return. And
now, as we listen to the beautiful
music of Michael Jackson as
he sings "Born To Soon"
Let us try to let go of the pain and
the heartache and let our hearts
give thanks for this little one's
brief life and love you all shared. And
as Georgieanna's spirit rises to the heavens
let us think of Georgieanna's spirit rising
to a new dimension, to a place of peace,
joy and tranquility.. to a place of eternal life. May
you find strength and comfort
in your love for one another,
and may you find peace in your hearts. Georgieanna
, God closed your eyes and
took your hand
and left us to try and understand
Others are taken, this we know,
But you were ours and we loved you so. You'll
be in our thought every day,
In our hearts you'll always stay,
A silent prayer.. a tear or two,
We will always love and miss you. Be
free little one.. and be at peace. Let
us give thanks today for Georgieanna's
life, Let us take comfort in the knowledge
that she will never know pain or discomfort,
She will now be safe forever and free from
all harm. All this dear little one has known
is warmth and love.. and that love will
be reassured forevermore, together for
eternity with Eddie. When
a rose climbs over a garden wall,
you cannot see it, but you know it is blooming
on the other side. So think of your little one
as having walked into another room
beyond the sight of your vision, and the touch
of your hand.. and let your love for her live on
by giving it to all other little children. May
your heart find comfort in the promise
that you will be together again someday,
for the bond of love is everlasting. But
now Georgieanna will leave us as she
continues her journey in peace. We bid you
farewell, little darling. May your spirit be free.
Death
