Old correspondence in the library at the University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, says, the ALLUMS descended from a HALLUMS family of Rowan Co. NC. Since Rowan Co was formed from Anson Co, it is possible this could be correct. Records state, John HALLUMS, d 1765 Rowan Co, had a son John ALLUMS who m, 1765 Eliz. MORRIS, daughter of George MORRIS.
