How many times have you felt the same way about yourself, your relationship, work and more? So, how do we get out when the feeling of being stuck and trapped is in all probability the reason why we are there in the first place? The answer comes to us through self-realization, patience and a little understanding.

The first step in any problem is to acknowledge it. You don't have to admit you like it or even that you want to fix it yet, just acknowledge that it is there.

The next step is to realize that if you're stuck in quicksand you're trapped at that very moment in time. You're not going forward or backward, you're just stuck. The remedy? Find ways to help yourself get moving again! If you feel you are ready to do just that, try a few of the ideas listed below and start the process of getting out of your emotional rut.

Look Forward Not Backward
So easy is it to get burdened down with things gone wrong in the past. You may think you're doing yourself a favor by comparing your actions with those in the past, but your not. What you are actually doing is keep yourself trapped by looking backward instead of forward. Don't fall into the trap of "If I only..." If you feel you must compare, wait until you able to do so at a more objective viewpoint.

Finding Light At The End
Keep your eye on the future by becoming involved in activities or doing things that will inspire you. For instance, take a specialty class, read trade magazines or books, join free workshops, etc. The time you spend will help you realize there is more to life than what you are experiencing right now.

Reach To A Supporting Branch
Sometimes we just need to blow off steam to realize how trivial something truly is. Find a good friend or listener who will allow you to do just that. A word of caution: Don't let yourself get caught up in trying to figure out why you are having the problem. Instead focus on finding a positive way or solution out.

To Thy Body Be True
Stress does unimaginable damage to the body. Take some time out and unwind a bit. If you have the chance to take a day off just to relax and take in the sights, do! Take a long walk. Stock up on vitamins. Basically, give your body a break! You'll be glad you did!

Finally, remember nothing is ever permanent. No matter how you are feeling right now, tomorrow will be different. So relax, take a deep breath and know you won't feel like this forever.
