Ouke no Monshou is a beautiful and famous manga by Hosokawa Chieko, loosely based on history of the Mediterrenean -- Egypt, Assyria, Babylon,etc. It arrived in China under the name Daughter of the Nile and was an instant success. Ouke no Monshou incorporates historical events, mysteries, and revolves around the conflicts between countries as they strive for power and land. Throughout the story, we follow the life and love of a beautiful girl called Kyaroru (Carol) who was cursed back to ancient Egypt to be tortured, but by accident found herself as the queen of Egypt.
