Grace Lee Whitney

Grace Lee Whitney played Yeoman Jancie Rand in the original Star Trek series. She was a faithful and loyal crewmember. She only had a minor part in early episodes but later appears as Captain Sulu's Executive Officer on the U.S.S. Excelsior in the Voyager episode Flashback.

Yeoman Rand disappeared from the ship in Charlie X when a rejected boy threw temper tantrums. She was attacked by the bad Kirk in the Enemy Within. She caught an aging disease in Miri.

Yeoman Rand may have been written into the series as a love interest for Captain Kirk. But when she realized the he had given his heart to the Enterprise, she probably left the ship for other duty and eventually went to the academy to get an officer commission.
