The "Spawn" comic book bursted onto the scene in the early 1990's.
It's popularity so strong, that it brought comic book giant MARVEL COMICS to it's knees in sales.
Since then, the story of Al Simmons, a ex-hitman for the government turned hell-spawn,
has in it's own way "spawned" an empire.
From several comic books spinoffs,
to a live-action movie, to probably the best cartoon series ever made (starring Keith David, the voice of Goliath, as Spawn).
