She-Ra: Princess of Power


I don’t think there’s many people who’ve heard of He-Man but haven’t heard of She-Ra, as He-Man ‘s twin sister’s show was also one of the most popular cartoons of the 80s.

She-Ra is introduced in the cartoon movie The Secret of the Sword, made up from the first five She-Ra episodes! She-Ra’s secret identity is that of Princess Adora, kidnapped as a baby by Hordak and brought up to be a Horde Force captain before He-Man brings her the sword of protection and she finds the truth about her origin. As She-Ra, she defends Etheria from its evil rulers, led by Hordak. Her magic comes from Grayskull, like He-Man’s, and also from the Crystal Castle, guarded by Light Hope.

She-Ra, without a doubt, is a great series, but I was never quite convinced by the way that nearly all her warriors were female, seemed a little too big a coincidence. Here are the characters from She-Ra:

THE REBELLION:

She-Ra/Adora- defender of Etheria
Spirit/Swift Wind- She-Ra’s horse who becomes a winged unicorn
Madame Razz- good witch who shares She-Ra’s secret but always messes up spells
Kowl- owl who seems to know everything, including She-Ra’s secret
Bow- master archer who secretly admires She-Ra
Sea Hawk- Pirate warrior who loves Adora
Glimmer- purple-haired rebel leader with many special powers
Angella- ruler of Brightmoon
Light Hope- the guardian of the Crystal Castle, a man composed entirely of light with great magic power. One of the few people who knows She-Ra's secret.
Frosta- ice empress of Etheria, who adores He-Man
Castaspella- powerful sorceress who helps She-Ra
Perfuma- has power over smell
Peekablue- half woman, half peacock- has bright feathers which enable her to see anywhere
Flutterina- half woman, half butterfly
Spinnerella- has the power to spin very fast
Netossa- uses a special net to catch enemies
Mermista- mermaid who helps She-Ra, can also change her tail to human legs to walk on ground
Sweet Bee- leader of a race of bee people
Double Trouble- has a good and evil face and switches sides between good and evil
Ariel- Student to Castaspella in the episode "The Anxious Apprentice" with the books of spells which Scorpia tries to steal to create evil magic
Starla- the first Star Sister. She possesses a psychic "warning" power. She senses danger and warns others with burst of star glitters
Tallstar- The second Star Sister. She grows tall and can extend to new heights. She also possesses great strength ( She's more like MOTU Extendar's counterpart in the POP series. )
Jewelstar- the third start sister. She can transform herself into a magnificent gem to distract enemies away from others. ( She's more like MOTU Rokkon's counterpart in the POP series. )
Glory Bird- Magnificent guardian and protector of The STAR SISTERS

THE EVIL HORDE:
Hordak- the leader of the horde on Etheria and ex-master of Skeletor
Shadow Weaver- Hordak’s leading sorceress
Catra- has the power to become a panther
Scorpia- half woman, half scorpion, with a heavy sting in her tail
Modulok- Hordak’s scientist, with many body parts
Grizzlor- hairy henchman
Leech- reptilian creature with suction power
Mantenna- Hordak’s spy, with pop-out eyes that fire beams
Horde Prime- supreme leader of the Horde who hovers through space in his ship, the Velvet Glove.
Imp- Hordak's personal assistant who is 'never wrong or outdone by'!
Multi-Bot- Modulok’s robot with shape-changing power
Entrapta- has the power to make traps and to coil her hair around enemies and squeeze the life from them
Octavia- half woman, half octopus, and can capture people in her tentacles
Clawdeen- Catra’s feline pet
Horde Troopers- Hordak's team of robots
Sludge Man- an oozing behemoth of mud from the episode "Day of the Flowers"
Vultax- a vulture-like creature who collects animals for the Horde Zoo in the episode "Zoo Story"
Dylamug- A huge robot with large electronic claws with which he seizes his enemies
Admiral Skurvy- The Horde Sea Captain.
Tung Lashor- venomous Snake Man who spits venom from his tongue
Rattlor- the other Snake Man, who frightens opponents with his rattle sound. Both Snake Men later returned to their original army with King Hiss
