"Excuse me, I need a doctor now," Angel called as he stormed into the hospital.
"Calm down," a nurse said. "Go to the front desk, fill out the paperwork, all right?"
Angel nodded and putting the sleeping Buffy in a chair.
"I need a doctor for her over there," he said, motioning to Buffy as he began to fill out the paperwork.
"Of course; everyone here needs a doctor," the nurse said. Angel was getting fed up with the crap he was getting from everyone. He filled out the paperwork and handed it in.
The nurse examined it and turned to Angel. "So she just began throwing up? And was sleepy...I see. Are you an Irish citizen? We need your insurance information."
How was he supposed to explain that he never had insurance, because up until last month he was a vampire? "I was."
"But you aren't now?"
"No, we're...vacationing."
"All right." Just then, a doctor came in. "Buffy Summers?"
"Over there," Angel said, motioning to Buffy. The doctor tried to get Buffy to stand, but, seeing that she could hardly walk, put her on a stretcher.
"Who are you?" the two doctors, one male, one female, asked.
"Angel Summers. I'm coming with her."
"Her brother, I take it? Yes, family members are allowed."
"I'm not her brother," Angel told them, following them as they left.
"Then you mayn't come. Family members only."
"I'm her husband for crying out loud, I WILL come!"
Angel saw the surprised faces as the male doctor, Dr. O'Sullivan, answered. "Oh, of course. I just didn't think..."
"You just didn't think she was old enough to be married, and you just thought that I'm too much older than her to be her husband, right?"
When the doctors didn't answer, Angel nodded. "It's all right, it happens plenty."
Angel was forced to wait outside as they X-rayed Buffy, and then took her to an enclosed room. The male doctor left, and the woman, Dr. Leary, stayed.
"I need to run a few tests on her, and if you could fill this out atesting that you are indeed her husband..."
Angel began to fill out the papers as Dr. Leary pricked Buffy's arm to test her blood. The blood no longer made Angel hungry, thankfully.
Just as Angel had finished with the paperwork, Buffy woke up. "Mom? I want to stay home..."
"She doesn't know where she is, obviously," Dr. Leary said.
*No kidding, I couldn't tell,* Angel felt like saying. Instead he took Buffy's hand. "Hey, Sweetie."
"Angel?" Buffy asked, sitting up. "Where am I? What about the hotel?"
"Shh. You're at the hospital. Lie down." Angel gently pushed Buffy back to a laying position. "The doc is going to do some tests and find out what's wrong."
"I'll be back in ten minutes," the doctor said, taking the blood and leaving.
"What's happening? I feel better, Angel."
"Shhh. Maybe it was a virus, but maybe not. We'll let the doc find out."
"Owww, my head," Buffy moaned. Angel kissed her softly. "It'll be ok. You'll get better, and we'll go back to Sunnydale, and live happily ever after."
"That's sweet," Buffy murmured, wrapping her arms around her lover. "I love you."
"You know I love you too." Angel leaned in and kissed Buffy. The kiss quickly grew passionate and fiery, and the doctor stuck her head in.
She cleared her throat, and the lovers broke apart. "I don't think that's a good idea, with you sick and all."
Angel glared at the doctor and took Buffy's hand. "Did you get the results?"
"The nurse is completing the tests, she'll be in in a second."
