XENOMORPH ALIEN CHESTBURSTER

The life of the mature alien begins with a dramatic and bloody entrance. It bursts out of the host's chest and kills them instantly. At this stage, the snake-like Chestburster has a small cranium, tan colored skin and can range from one to two feet tall. After birth, the Chestburster will either feed on the remains of the host or seek shelter if threatened. Like the eggs, Chestbursters can vary in appearance. The Nostromo Chestburster emerged with arms but the one on LV-426 did not. On Fiorina 161 both arms and legs had developed as well as a noticeable inner jaw or tongue. There are a couple of speculations, that the alien actually inherits some genetic traits from the host as it develops, or because of varying periods of gestation it is born at different levels of maturity. Incubation time also seems to vary. Kane, the victim from the Nostromo, had an incubation period of a few hours, while the Queen embryo in Ripley matured over several days. It is believed that a Queen embryo will wait several weeks before emerging, thus allowing the host to travel and spread hives over a larger area.
