Design: The Nostromo was refitted as a commercial towing vehicle in 2116 and has been used to run automated ore and oil refineries between the Sol system and 20 Reticuli. Ship's flight and autonomic functions are monitored by 'Mother', a 2.1 terabyte intelligent mainframe. There is a 2.0 terabyte backup mainframe in case of a CPU failure, plus a third tier of automatics capable of sustaining autonomic functions.
Crew Compartments: The crew compartments consist of 3 decks, including the bridge, crew quarters, mess hall, science station, CPU module, medical bay, 4 main cargo bays, stores, engineering stations, air ducts, and air scrubbing plant. There are 7 hypersleep capsules for long-duration flight. Artificial gravity and inertial dampening are maintained by polarized gravity generators. An external docking bay for a shuttlecraft is beneath the hull. This shuttle also acts as a lifeboat in the event of an evacuation.
