Design: Originally designed as a troop and logistic transport with limited defense capability, the Conestoga Class starships' role has become one of a light assault ship with duties including space control and orbital bombardment. Its asymmetrical design gives it optimum cargo capacity within a compact, well-armored hull.

The cargo hangars make up the forward section of the vessel. These hangars may be used for logistic transportation, troop transport, or as shuttle bays. Below the hangars is a dedicated shuttle and dropship launch bay. This hangar can hold up to 4 shuttles.

Life Support: Crew and personnel are transported for extended periods in the cryogenic hypersleep capsules. Automated systems maintain the crew's body functions at slowed rates and revive them upon reaching their destination. Revival can take up to 30 minutes. There are permanent capsules for up to 90 crew and passengers, but up to 2,000 more can be installed in the cargo hangers for troop transport.

Artificial gravity is maintained by synchronized gravity field generators positioned throughout the habitable sections of the ship. It can be adjusted to allow troops to acclimate to various terrestrial gravities. Inertial Dampening protects the crew and cargo from acceleration.

Emergency Systems: If the ship is damaged and can no longer maintain life support, the commanding officer or automatic crisis management systems can initiate emergency evacuation. Twenty Bodenwerke Gemeinschift Type 337 Emergency Escape Vehicles (EEV) can be launched within seconds. If the crew is unable to reach an EEV because they are in hibernation, automatic systems will load their hypersleep capsules into the EEVs and launch them.
