How to make your own fan fic book

 I have to add a note about copyrights. Most writers don't mind you printing out their stories but only for your private use. You can pass the booklets along but what keeps most fan fiction writers out of trouble is that we make no profit. Don't sell our stories!

 These directions are based on my favorite word processor, WordPerfect, and the use of an ink jet printer. I print on both sides of the papers to give the long stories a book like feel. I also started out using letter size paper but later moved on to use legal size.

 I played with short stories first and get used to the proceeders. I also adjust as needed. I have found that the older the file the harder it is to convert from the basic txt file into a fan fiction book.

 I know that this is possible with MSWord but I don't want to get in to it.
 

Open story in WordPerfect

Edit out extra material, such as news group information. Leave the disclaimer, summary, title and author name! This is the important information.

This part is specific to WordPerfect.

• Go to edit and click on find and replace.
• Click on find box.
• Go to match and click on codes. A codes screen will appear.
• Insert [HRt][HRt]. Do not close!
• Click on Replace With box.
• Go to codes screen.
• Insert [HSpace].
• Close code screen.
• Click on Options.
• Click on Began at the Top of the Document.
• Click on replace all.
• Click on find box.
• Go to match and click on codes. A codes screen will appear.
• Insert [HRt]. Do not close!
• Click on Replace With box.
• Insert one space.
• Close code screen.
• Click on replace all.
• Click on find box.
• Go to match and click on codes. A codes screen will appear.
• Insert [HSpace]. Do not close!
• Click on Replace With box.
• Go to codes screen.
• Insert [HRt].
• Close code screen.
• Click on replace all.

Now, to make it readable

• Hit [Ctrl][Home] to get up to the absolute start of the file.
• Go to Format.
• Click on Paragraph.
• Click on format.
• In the screen that just popped up.
• Change first line indent to .2 to .5. Depending on your own taste

Turning it into a booklet

• Go to Format.
• Clink on page.
• Click on subdivide page.
• Change columns to 2.
• Go to Format.
• Clink on page.
• Click on paper size.
• Pick the appropriate size landscape paper that you have.

Fonts and size

• Use a condensed font. Usually identified with the CN
• Use "Make it fit" to size it.

Printing

• Go to print screen.
• Click on options.
• Click on booklet print.
• Click on print.

The printer: all the instructions above creates a double sided print. My ink jet flags me to turn over the pages. You will have to experiment with your printer.
