What is Traveller?
Traveller was and still is one of the first role playing games in the science fiction theme catagory. It was first published by Game Designers Workshop and Marc W. Miller in I believe the mid to early 70's the game grew in popularity mainly in the 80's and has been a staple and model for many other science fiction role playing games to try to emulate. Traveller has gone in and out of print several times during its current liefespan but can be currently obtained under the name of "Gurps Traveller" by Steve jackson games. The Campaign I run here is pulled from the mainly from the first edition rules and its supplements and the hardbound book copyrighted in 1982. I feel the game is a good system that leaves room for those who love to create their own adventures. The only Ironic thing is that a good deal of the technology mentioned in the rules has come to pass in one form or another since the games inception. I hope this answers that question and you seek out a copy of these rules its a good game.
What is an RPG?
An RPG or "Role Playing Game" is an adventure game unlike any other. There are two types of players in RPG's "Player Charecters" and the "Referee" using a set of Rules or Guidlines, Dice, Pencils, Paper, and Imagination "Players" create a personality or charecter with various attributes skills and equipment, several of the players join together to become adventurers in a fictional world the "Referee" has created. The "Referee" presents situations and storlines that the "players" weave their way through with their descions and actions making the stroy eveolve and come alive. Role playing is the main key, "The player acting out the Role of the charecter he or she has created and performing actions and deeds that this Fictional would or could do." The "Referee" is the world the universe and all the other people and things in it the "Player Charecters" interact with. The "Referee's" job is running a fun and fair game for the "players". Winning and losing in this game are a bit different than normal games. Winning for "players" could be a number of things improved character skills, riches,social status Etc. Losing could be a serious gaming setback, Loss of freind or Death of his or her charecter All in a fictional form of course. The referee Its a bit more subtle, Winning is having a good group of players enjoy you game and you enjoy running one for them. Losing is a little harder to describe perhaps loss of respect as a referee, Loss of freinds who play the game with you, not enjoying the game you have played.
How Can I Play?
You can join our game first by sending me an E-MAIL stating your Name, Age, E-Mail Address and the character you would like to play from a list of NPC's Listed on my website or By giving me an Idea of a character you would like to play. Please take a look at the Character generation section of this website to get your ideas and perhaps look at the starcharts and select a world he is from I will need to know a general age you would like your charecter and his occupation from one of the may in the character generation section. Once you have all that Just send me an E-MAIL with that information. I will let you know if tha character Idea is acceptable or not NPC's Listed Are already approved as they are part of the current gaming group, But I think we could work somthing out if you have a character idea.
