I won't pretend to be an expert on today's music. I'm not really very into it. However, recently three Music videos featuring daikaiju have recently begun playing repeatedly on MTV and I figured they deserved a place on my page as much as anything. The second daikaiju music video of the summer is the Beastie Boys' somewhat more upbeat "Intergalactic". Personally, I'm not a big fan of this type of music, (sorta' techno) but if you are then this video will have an added bonus. Besides the fact that the music is somewhat repetitive, "Intergalactic" is a gem.
It concerns a huge robot (that looks mysteriously similar to the Jetson's electric maid) who comes to Earth to fight an evil daikaiju with an octopus for a head and crab claws for hands. During the miniature city smashing brawl, the Beastie Boys dance around town, making fun of the Power Rangers in their poses. In the video's end, the robot defeats its opponent by knocking it against high tension towers and frying it alive. As the music fades the giant robot flies off into outer space.
This video is very fun to watch and is most pleasing to the eye as so much is going on. Scared Japanese citizens running away and watching in awe show up every once in a while just for a quick "ha". The way the robot dances to the song's rhythm is another nice touch. Sayonara for now!
