Okay, I admit it. My name isn't really Ancarett--that's just my flimsy internet pseudonym. I'm the Community Services Producer(i.e. Member Websites and Clubs) at iVillage--the online community for women. Check out my super-dee-duper personal website there, Ancarett's Web. For a while I was privileged to serve as an Area51 Geocities Community Leader, but if you need help now, check out the Area51 Community Resource Center. I also maintain a women's history website over in Wellesley, another GeoCities neighborhood.
In Real Life I'm a happily married mother of two wonderful girls. I'm thirty-seven years old (and no, I don't remember the Kennedy years). If you want to know about the real me, check out my slightly dusty alter ego and the departmental website that I created and maintain. Personally, I recommend you let me maintain an aura of mystery!
My InterestsWhat do I do for fun? Well, I'm an avid reader and writer of Star Trek: Voyager fanfiction. I actually began writing back in the good old days before computers (when zipatone and Selectrics were king). I had fan art and fan stories published in a number of media zines, mostly Star Wars and Star Trek. I was active in Lois and Clark fandom via usenet newsgroups and follow the fandoms of The West Wing and Dark Angel.
Currently, I'm enamoured of HTML (so, nobody said I was healthy!) and I play with these webpages whenever I'm not working, chasing children or trying to write more fanfic. I also love counted cross-stitch embroidery, and wish I had the time to do that more, as well. I'm also a sometime horsewoman without a horse, although I ride whenever possible.
On rare occasions, I also dabble in historical recreation groups like the Society for Creative Anachronism. For those of you who care, that's where I got my internet pseudonym. Officially, I can be styled Lady Ancarett Nankivellis and I have a long list of titles and honours bestowed upon me by several make-believe kingdoms. So there!
My WorldWhere in the world do I come from? Well, if you're not speaking metaphorically, I live in Sudbury, a city in Northern Ontario, Canada. Curious to see what my weather's like today? I'd send you to our fair city's official website, but the design stinks, so don't even go looking for it.
I'm a Canadian by choice (and soon by official citizenship), an American by birth and continuing inclination. My hometown is West Lafayette, Indiana, USA: home of Purdue University and its mighty Boilermakers.
