River of Deceit Promotional Video

The opening sounds of Mad Season's "River of Deceit" are heard as we come in from black to an empty arena with a wrestling ring set up in the middle. We pan around the arena, as it fills up with ghostly images of fans fading in. As we focus on the different sections, we see that some of them have different fans, however. Some are decked out in UWL gear. Some are in AGW merchandise. Others in TEW apparel, some in World Web Wrestling clothing and even a few sections with Iceman Wrestling League stuff on. Still more are distinctly Japanese. Soon, the arena is filled with the spectres of fans from the past.

As the bass kicks in, the full arena fades out and gives way to the entrance ramp. We see Misery come out on to the ramp in his street clothes. He looks around at the arena before making his way down the ramp. As he does so, the shot fades to him walking down the ramp at various stages of his career, starting with a distinctly younger Misery walking down the ramp for Iceman Wrestling League, advancing through World Web Wrestling, early UWL, TEW, AGW leading up to the ring, where we fade back to the present, with Misery in the center of the ring. The big screen in the arena fires up behind him as the lyrics begin.

My pain is self-chosen

We see a bloody Misery, a sadistic smile on his face on the big screen. The camera zooms past Misery towards the big screen until it finally gives us a full screen view.

At least, so The Prophet says

The bloody Misery gives way to old footage of Tom Tennant and Misery using a construction crane to hoist a cross with Rage/Rasputin McKane tied to it.

I could either burn

Rage fades to an image of Misery holding a flaming singapore cane, ready to strike as the flame casts an eerie glow on his face.

Or cut off my pride and buy some time

The image is slowly faded out as footage of Misery's retirement speech in the UWL is faded in. We see Misery wave farewell to the UWL fans one last time before heading up the ramp.

A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist

We zoom out from the big screen as more highlights of Misery's career continue to play as we watch Misery light a cigarette with his trademark Zippo lighter. He takes a drag and blows out some smoke.

The River of Deceit pulls down, oh oh

As Misery enjoys the cigarette, old grainy footage of Melissa playing to the crowd appears beside him.

The only direction we flow is down

The image of Melissa turns into a similarly grainy one of her from much later in his career, when The Man Known as Chuck brought her out to berate him.

Down, oh down

Melissa goes away and is replaced by Amanda, celebrating a Misery victory

Down, oh down

Amanda gives way to Carey.

Down, oh down

Carey is replaced in favor of Anna, who can be seen holding Misery's son, a smile on her face.

Down, oh down

Anna fades out, leaving Misery alone once again in the middle of the ring. Misery flicks the cigarette out of the ring as we again flash back to different times in his career, showing Misery doing parts of his ring entrance before going back to focusing on the big screen.

My pain is self-chosen

We see an image of Misery standing in the ring with Tom Tennant and Clint Tennant beside him, all wearing W.O.O.D. shirts. Scenes of Misery fighting with both men are being played behind them.

At least I believe it to be

The scene then shows Tom and Misery, laying in the middle of the ring after their exploding barbed wire dynamite cage match in Dangerously Brutal Wrestling. That quickly fades to a slow motion shot of the two of them shaking hands after that match.

I could either drown

Tom and Misery give way to a shot of Misery sulking in what used to be his playground. The moonlight shines on him like a spotlight from the heavens.

Or pull off my skin and swim to shore

Beside Misery in the park, we see footage of Misery's first match in Iceman Wrestling League.

Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see

We go to a shot of Misery holding the AGW World Title, celebrating his victory over Nelson. The image freezes as we give way back to the present, where Misery is standing in the ring, motionless.

The River of Deceit pulls down, yeah

Another grainy image appears, this time in front of Misery. It is Tom Tennant, staring Misery right in the eyes.

The only direction we flow is down

Tom fades away to The Man Known As Chuck, recreating the staredown from before their Four Corners of Misery match.

Down, oh down

TMKAC gives way to Rage, an menacing grin on his face as he stares down at Misery.

Down, oh down

Rage is replaced with Dark Enigma, who cracks his knuckles as he prepares to fight Misery.

Down, oh down

Dark Enigma fades out and Wildfire takes his place, smirking as he looks at his mentor.

Down, oh down

Wildfire disappears into nothing and the monster Nelson fades in. He has an almost psychotic look on his face as he looms over Misery. Nelson then fades out, leaving Misery alone once again.

The pain is self-chosen, yeah

Misery raises his arm in the air as he is surrounded by grainy footage of him holding up the different titles he has won over his career.

Our pain is self-chosen

The images disappear in an instant as Paige Vandenburg walks up beside Misery. A smile crosses Misery's face as he walks over to the ropes and hold them open for her. The two exit the ring. They walk up the ramp, talking as the song ends and everything fades to black.
