It is equivalent in spirit of the current InterParliamentary Union and United Nations combined with mind to the genders of humanity, and is offered as a transformational model to help bring real gender balance and democracy to those organizations, and to all governmental, decision-making, executive, legislative and judicial bodies on earth.

Continuing Co-Stewardship - Current and Ongoing Indefinitely Through the Days when Dr. Najma Heptulla Called to be a first official Partner Secretary General of the IPU
(in a coordinating IPU-UN) Mrs. Dr. Najma Heptualla has been
President of the InterParliamentary Union Council and Executive
Committee, after several previous years as acting President and
active member. She has been a leader in IPU's worldwide leadership in
upholding the ideals of democracy, especially the empowerment of
women and women and men's partnership in leadership in that
organization. She has chaired the IPU's Committee of Women
Parliamentarians, and she is one of the founding members of IPU's
Gender Partnership Group. She is also active in cooperation and
leadership with the United Nations, contributing actively as
Distinguished Ambassador to the UNDP (United Nations Development
Program) which provided in-service education and training to UN
members and personnel. She headed the Indian delegation to the UN on
the Status of Women, and was a major participant at the Beijing
Conference on Women. Heptulla is also Speaker of the Indian Upper
House of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), where she has served several terms
in that position since 1985, and is also the President of the Indian
Housewives Association. In addition, she is an expert in
intercultural cooperation, has served as the Special Envoy to the
Prime Minister of India in Arab and Islamic nations, and is President
of the Indo-Arab Society and a Trustee of the India-Islamic Cultural
Center. Heptulla has a masters degree in zoology, becoming a
valedictorian, and later obtaining a doctorate in cardiac anatomy at
age 22, and is an expert on prevention. She is married, and she and
her husband have three daughters. Her name, Najma, is very similar to
that of Naamah, now deemed by many to have been the name of the wife
of Noah, and also to the Hawaiian word to see, Na Na, and names and
words which mean GrandMother and Mother in many languages, and is
also the name of several female co-stewards whose name includes the
letters and sounds of these names such as Nane Annan, Naamah
Kelman-Ezrachi, and Nadia-Leila Assaoui. But the task is to See,
NaNa, all people as both citizens and leaders equally, and to see
that each person, male and female, decision-making in equality with
people of the other gender,

Heptulla's dedication to both females and males, and the life of the
world, makes her a leader and sharer with all women, who are now
understood to be the intellectual, political and spiritual full
equals of their husbands and all men of the new Millennial spirit of
mutuality in political equality, and j for joy as well.
Anders P. Johnsson Called to be a first Partner Secretary General of an IPU (in a
coordinating IPU-UN), Anders Johnsson wore the title of Secretary
General of the International Parliamentary Union since 1998, after
serving as Deputy and Assistant Secretary General from 1991-1998, but
ARK and billions of people now regard him as a new Millennial
co-leader of that organization as it influences parliaments around
the world, in full equality with co-leader Mrs. Najma Heptulla,
described above. Under co-leadership, the IPU can become a strong
source of information and self-evaluation of gender and truly
representative government that the people of the world can trust
instead of distrust. IPU has put forth the values that can move
politics and legislatures in every land from paranoia and posturing
to fulfillment of human potential, with gender balanced democracy in
every land. Johnsson is an expert in human rights and international
law for the purpose of caring for the human beings of the world, and
cooperative decision-making. Prior to his leadership in the IPU, he
was a senior official and chief legal advisor to the United Nations
High Commission on Refugees, for 15 years, serving refugees worldwide
in many lands, literally saving millions of lives and protecting the
dignity of all human beings. Johnsson was born and educated in Sweden
and is married to a woman authoress from Mexico, equally important on
the Ark, with whom he shares three children. He is one of several
stewards who name contains letters that spell the name Noah, in
addition to Noah Idechong, (see below), and a leader of the world
saving and cherishing spirit that makes everyman a new age Noah who,
this time, clearly empowers his wife and all women as a spiritual and
political equals of men. His name, Anders, means all others, and his
last name reveals the power of the most common man, increased only
when shared equally with women like Najma. As the world comes to
better know both Anders' wife, and Najma's husband, this gender
balanced quaternity will be an even wholer model of mutuality of both
genders for each other, and highlight the possibilities of wholeness
and gender respect both in office and at home.
Kofi Annan and Nane Annan ARK Co-Presiding Term 6/22/2001-9/22/2001 Kofi Annan Called to be the first co-spousal Partner Secretary General of a
UN (in a coordinated IPU-UN) who is expected to announce 50-50 gender
balance at the UN as the prerequisite of wearing a title there, Kofi
Annan, a husband and a father of a son and two daughters with has
been Secretary General of the United Nations since 1997. Born in
Ghana, he received advanced education at Macalester College in
Minnesota, where he met his wife (see below) as well as at the
Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva, Switzerland and
MIT. He held a great variety of positions within the United Nations,
learning the ins and outs of every aspect of its functioning, from
budgeting to diplomatic peacemaking, from peacekeeping to personnel,
from world wide health issues to world environmental issues, and many
others. He has been prominent in gaining ahd keeping peace in many
areas of the world, and his soft-spoken patient leadership style is
familiar to billions of people, men, women and children, around the
world. In addition to his wife, he has worked closely with many women
and men, in and outside of the UN, and especially Mary Robinson, High
Commissioner for Human Rights, who works to fulfill and honor the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights (stewarded into being by
another woman, Eleanor Roosevelt, at the beginning of the United
Nations, in 1947, after her husband, Franklin helped bring their
shared dream into being as a real organization. Robinson is also on
the ARK along with several women and men who work actively with or in
the United Nations. Under Annan, and Robinson's (and an active
UNIFEM) leadership and now with Nane as full partner, the UN
continues to strive for the real gender balance and democracy in the
rest of its own functioning, an essential and necessary requirement
for it to continue to serve the world in the new Millennium and
fulfill its own destiny in a positive way for the citizens of all
nations. His name is similar to Kokua (aid, assist) and Koena (the

Nane Annan
(and husband, Kofi)
Called to be the first co-spousal Partner Secretary General of the
UN (in a coordinating IPU-UN), Nane's name is pronounced Nana. which
means Grand Mother in many languages, and also means to look or see
in Paradisal language (Hawaiian). Her name symbolizes the necessity
of world geopolitical culture to empower wives as well as husbands,
as in official and equal office. For the early part of her husband's
first terms, here name was little known outside of the UN itself. But
because of the interest and encouragement of other women and men
around the world who are activists for the fair empowerment of
women, her heretofore marginalized position as a geopolitical wife
was exposed, and the world is asking to know more more about her
work, and benefit from her prededent pioneering official
co-leadership. Of Swedish origin, she met her husband Kofi at
Macalaster College in the United States. The mother of the couple's
three children, she is both a lawyer and an artist. She is being
called to move out of the stricly ceremonial role, and is now being
assisted to express herself more freely as a woman free citizen,
calling more forthrightly for representation of women around the
world in office, in numerical proportion similar to that achieved in
her native Sweden, which has lead the world in being the most gender
balanced country in the world, and has generally seated women and men
in ranges of 40-60 and even better - around the ideal of 50-50. She
is called the sister of Najma Heptulla of the IPU, Naamah
Kelman-Ezrachi, and Nadia-Leila Assaoui, and other women of similar
sounding names who have started calling comprehensive gender balance
as the litmus test of real diplomacy and true government. An even

In one of the glaring ironies of unigender-dominated accounts of
Western Judaeo-Christian Civilization, the story of Noah's Ark, the
story of 2x2 male-female pairing to sustain life, was for centuries
told without revealing any name for the wife of Noah. This was the
case even though the Biblical narrative itself highlights her
activities in the daring tale of saving life on earth, caring for the
animals, and her whole family. As a result of increasing women's
scholarship, many now believe that the wife of Noah - the mother of
continued life on earth according to the story - should be remembered
as Naamah. Because of a major children's book written by an ordained
Rabbi (Sandy Eisenberg Sasso), now millions of young girls and boys,
and their parents, are able to fill in the blank left by centuries of
male-censoring Biblical history accounts that overemphasized HIStory
and undertold HERstory; and celebrate Noah and Naamah as a loving,
mutually respectful couple and equally important parents, despite the
extreme oppression of women in their times. Many parents around the
world are naming their daughters Naamah, as a result, just as
worldwide, vast numbers of boys are named Noah. Noah himself also
inspires us because in gathering the animals of both genders, he
exemplifies the wise man's grasp of the importance of female as well
as male, with love, care and full respect without arrogance. At least
two other co-stewards listed here, Anders Johnsson and Najma Heptulla
(listed just above), also have named that include the letters of Noah
and Naamah, and in spirit, all men and women who respect the
importance of both genders in mutuality, carry the spirit of the new
Millennial ARK, which is calling the men and women of the earth in
the spirit of 2x2, or gender-balanced groups. In fact, the name, like
Najma Heptulla, also combines the word NaNa, which means to see in
Paradaisal Polynesian, and MaMa, or mother, reminding the new
Millennial generations to see their mothers as equally important as
their fathers in shared and mutual political decision-making if we
are to bring and sustain a Paradise on a Living Earth. In fact,
Noah's name is similar to both noho (dwelling) and nohea (lovely)
indicating that the world becomes a saved and lovely dwelling for us
when we see the importance of both genders in it. Today, all people
can be fully evolved Naamahs and Noahs to save the earth by becoming
and calling for gender-balance -- not just among the animals, but
among their governments, transforming the "political animals" from
rapacious, dominating monogender beasts oblivious to their own
sisters, wives, daughters and mothers, but the living doves of full
and balanced, loving and caring, more mutual humanity it must become
if the earth is to avoid a flood of disasters, survive, and prosper
in lasting and rainbow-colored peace.
Naamah Kelman-Ezrachi
and husband, Elan Ezrachi
Born and raised in the United States, Naamah Kelman was the first female rabbi ordained in Israel, a nation with a history of female leadership (Prime Minister Golda Meir) but which is also overcoming entrenched misogyny of a small but powerful minority (who objected to women praying at the famed Temple Wall and sometimes recently still stoned them there.) A rabbi of a liberal tradition, Rabbi Naamah Kelman went to Israel because she saw that many, perhaps most Israelis were themselves becoming alienated from valuable Jewish culture and indeed, from any community-oriented spiritual/religious understanding, because the state religious establishment, orthodox and all-male, no longer "spoke" to the worldview of most modern Israelis and most Jews around the world. Assembling a gender-balanced group of Reform rabbis from around the world (i.e. New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Los Angeles, among other cities as well as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem), this steward is bringing new light and holiness to an ancient land and culture, and like many modern rabbis, now reminding the world that God is manifest in female aspects, called the Schechina among Jews, along with male, and present in women and men equally. Naamah is married to Elan Ezrachi, who is also a Rabbi leading the community in respecting women and men as political and spiritual equals, and his name, Elan, means spirit. Naamah Kelman is also the daughter of a major American rabbi, and her brother, Rabbi Levi Weiman-Kelman, like her, has become a rabbi in Israel, and brother and sister often work together, while Levi's wife, Paula, is an accomplished filmmaker, whose subjects for film include both women and men who build community and care for others. All are now listed as among the Ark stewards. Indeed, their fathers and mothers are both here recognized as implicit Ark stewards, as well, as all the generations of her family, which included at least 10 generations of rabbis... and great leaders among its fathers...and, now symbolically named and ordained, too, mothers. Indeed, also listed as Ark stewards are the above mentioned Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso and her husband Dennis Sasso of the United States. Sandy is the above-mentioned award-winning childrens' book authoress who rediscovered and made known the name Naamah as the wife of Noah, and she and her husband are the first known couple in the world to both be ordained Rabbis. Their children, Deborah and David, are becoming interfaith leaders and healers, as well, and remind us that with gender balance, all families become both democratically and spiritually whole, and can board the Ark together. All whole families are potential Stewards on the Ark of Earth in Gender Balance, where the entire world rediscovers it is one family, saved and restored for abundant life.
Noah Idechong
Named Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine in the millennial 2000, Noah Idechong is the founder of the Palau Preservation Society in Pacific Micronesia, and has long been referred to as a modern-day Noah. His work has resulted in major environmental legislation in the US Congress, and he has been critical in the protection of reefs, teeming with life, for the world. Noah was a former employee of the Division of Marine Resources, and works actively with the Nature Conservancy. He has lobbied and run for Congress as well, and understands the importance of bringing the spirit of true stewardship into the still all too often greed-and-power-driven halls of power. As such he will be enormously assisted by the presence of women in gender-balance in Congress; as a rule, even in male dominated assemblies, women in government have had higher levels of protectiveness toward the environment than men; both genders will be able to preserve most wisely under conditions of gender balance. It is interesting to note that the Polynesian culture's God, sometimes called Ios, appears mythologically in both male and female manifestations. Among the many fish and animal species this modern day Noah has preserved are the dugong, the hawksbill turtle, and naturally, the fruit dove. Remember, Noah's name is similar to both noho (dwelling) and nohea (lovely) indicating that the world becomes a saved and lovely dwelling for us when we see the importance of both genders in it. You can tell that Noah Idechong has a beautiful future in mind and heart when you look at his organization's website at: The Palau Conservation Society; it's easy to imagine, see, almost taste the delicious fruits and flower leis of peace of gentle gender balanced leadership as we look at the pictures at the Palau site. Arkmates envision the Ark_earth in balance lead on its journey by a dove, as in the Bible, but this time, the dove does not fly alone. On the ARK, Noah Idechong is paired with Naamah Kelman-Ezrach, amidst a flock of friends. When gender balance has landed, the land of the Middle East will stay safely filled with orchards and orange groves where doves are welcome to dwell in the house of a loving god of Paradisal Love forever. In a gender balanced Palau as well as Promised Land, the sun already provides energy far more powerful than bombs or, one day soon, even more remarkable for its blessing in bestowing the sun's radiant energy to all earth's inhabitants of all races and counrtries. In gender balanced spirit, it will be worth more even than oil, even the fragrant olive and fruit oil annointing the heads of all who live in peace. For, it will be fueled by the ultimate fuel - a spiritual one, that is restored when men and women cooperate together as loving political equals. Just as our new Millennial ARK carries a named Naamah and Noah now, two doves guide this Ark to safe landing, of course, one female and one male. Remember, every woman is a Naamah and every man a Noah, a unique manifestation of spirit balancing nature, in stewarding our earth to good, spiritually wise gender-balanced government and a future of untold, realized promise.

Mary Robinson
(and husband Nicholas Robinson)
Mary Robinson, a mother of two sons and a daughter with her husband Nicholas, served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights since 1997, but left for a time when the organization failed to offer her the role and title of Secretary General for her services during that critical period for gender. The title has been restored by activists, and now she is known as the UN's first Partner Secretary General Emeritus. Educated at Trinity College in Ireland and Harvard in the United States, she also holds honorary degrees at Oxford and Cambridge. She served in the Irish Senate, and was President of Ireland from 1990-1997. A professor of Constitutional and Criminal Law, she brings the balance of true ideals of justice tempered with reconciliation, rehabilitation and mercy to world's concepts of law, and understands that law exists first and foremost to protect real human beings and their human rights. She has been an important inspiration to the women and men of her nation, and especially a force for peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland, as well, and is helping insure that corporate investment in Ireland equally respects human progress worldwide and equal values of accountability, stewardship and decision-making for both genders. Her mandate at the UN is to see that the organization fulfills on its promise, under the Declaration of Human Rights drafted and stewarded personally by one of the world's greatest visionary leaders of the 20th century, Eleanor Roosevelt, (who also regarded the UN as one of, if not the best, of the joint achievements of herself and her husband, Franklin). With Desmond Tutu, she has been called to Co-Chair a World Gender Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which archives the often untold role of women in past geopolitical history, and articulates the truth and necessity of gender balance in official decision-making for the future, and models a gender balance clause for all governmental consitutions worldwide. Because of his name and his expected importance in bringing gender balance to the world, Nick and Mary are often being called St Mary and St Nick - the Santa Clauses who are brining the Gift of Gender Balance at home and in democratic political, office to all the world.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his non-violent opposition to apartheid in South Africa, Desmond Tutu has long understood the importance of women and men as partners in a just world, and is a loving foe of the domination ethic in all its forms. As a child, he lived under a rule in which blacks and whites were prohibited from partnership as equals, and in which blacks suffered enormous poverty and lack of civil rights under the apartheid system of South Africa. Living in the impoverished ghettos eumphemistically called homelands, he suffered from tuberculosis, from which he recovered, determined to study medicine when he grew up. Unable to study medicine and eventually even to work as a teacher because of apartheid pressures, as a young man her entered the Anglican Church, where he received support for his anti-apartheid activities, and he studied first in South Africa and then obtained his ordination with a Masters in Theology in London, returning to South Africa where he became the first black to head the Anglican Church there. Surviving years of racially motivated violence in his nation which affected all its citizens, Archbishop held a vision of equality and peace. Tutu exemplies the spirit of both insistence upon change and forgiveness and reconciliation. He has served with distinction for the entire world as witness as the head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, and has also served as a justice and mentor for the Women's World Court, founded by El Taller, who is also a steward on the ARK. With Taller as an ongoing resource, and with Mary Robinson, he is expected to Co-Chair a World Gender Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which archives the often untold role of women in past geopolitical history, and articulates the truth and necessity of gender balance in official decision-making for the future. A political independent deeply concerned about the erosion of true elections and democracy by special interests in his own nation and worldwide, John Anderson ran for the Presidency of the United States not so long ago. He is also the Founder and President of the Center for Voting and Democracy, and is the President of the United States- based World Federalist Organization, which attempts to unite citizens around the world in a concept of planetary cooperation. Anderson has worked with Professor Loni Guinere, recent Presidential candidate Ralph Nader, and members of the major political parties as well as third parties and political independents to draw public attention to the extreme lack of respresentation of women, as well as racial minorities of both genders, in US officialdom. The World Federalist Organization where Anderson presides has recently established its own Gender Equity department, and its staff is endeavoring to bring full balance to its own functioning, as increasingly expected by many of its members and interested observers. Tarja Halonen

Tarja Kaarina Halonen is the President of Finland, one of the leading nations for human rights, with its capital in Helsinki, a central city in the history of defining human rights law around the world. Halonen is herself a lawyer in a nation for whom law is clearly understood to exist in order, ultimately, to insure our mutual and societal protection of the basic life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of all people, not just those favored by gender, class, nation, race or other privileged status. Finland has lead the world in other advances as well, and is probably the world's most connected and advanced nation in computer technology, via the Internet, which is assisting all people of the world to meet and know each other, and benefit from each other as thinking and caring citizens of a global community. Halonen's nation is a world leader of balance of men and women (about 50/50) in government and society, and the nation offers excellent opportunities for men and women and children to enjoy work and family life harmoniously, with family leave benefits and a culture of nurturing creativity, highest education and innovation among its citizens. Gender Balance in Government Achieved World Wide

In 1993, Bhutto became Prime Minister of Pakistan and the first woman leader of a modern Islamic country. She is the daughter of a former Prime Minister, who was himself ousted and executed under conditions of turmoil. Subequently, she herself had been imprisoned in years past, in jail conditions in which she was maltreated and her cell infested by insects. Her husband was also arrested, but since then, both have been released. Despite these hardships, Bhutto, her husband and all the men and women of Pakistan have persevered toward gender progess together, along with other people in neighboring and her-historically important countries such as India, Bangladesh and England. As a model of the growing commitment of many new Millennial children of old famous public families to model noblesse oblige and bring forth true democracy that empower others and not just themselves, Bhutto has many friends and admirers at all levels of wealth and public participation, throughout the world. She has received Honorary Degrees and Keys to cities from Los Angeles to Tokyo and everywhere in between. Educated at Radcliffe, and Oxford, Bhutto remained in England during her exile from Pakistan; England has had female leaders as both Queens and Prime Ministers, but in general, until its citizens have begun to board the new Millennial Ark of real and true democracy, it's decision-making has been mostly of one gender officially, and publically perceived to have fallen behind Europe in public presence of both genders. So, England, like Pakistan, is under increasing pressure to catch up with the rest of its North Sea neighbors in Scandinavia on the gender balance of government, so it will be interesting to see if, within their national contexts such as they are, England and Pakistan achieve gender balance in government simultaneously, or if the men and women of the former colony, linked to a strong gender balance movement in India and much of Asia, will achieve gender balance prior to the old gender imbalanced imperial masters, and lead them into the new Millennium. Bhutto is also the author of many books on politics, democracy and the new Millennium, and she is paired for 2x2 on the ARK with Tim Berners-Lee.

No one living today can be oblivious to the epochal presence of what has been called the world's global brain, the Internet, and Tim Berners-Lee has empowered the utility of the Internet exponentially as the inventor of the hyperlinks and the World Wide Web. He developed the World Wide Web while at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. Today, like a real brain with both right and left hemispheres, the Web is connecting the wisdom of men and women to each other. The importance of this balance in the mental re-unity of the thinking and ideas for the human specie is incalcuable. A World Wide Web without enough presence of either gender would likely endanger each and both genders, and conversely, because it is uniting the thoughts of both genders in common presence, the World Wide Web is already bringing the wholeness of much of humanity into contact, and synergizing enormous progress in all fields of thought and endeavor, including science and art, the social sciences and biological and physical sciences, politics and economics, mathematics and philosophy, and just as important in all these areas, informational data and values of humaneness, dignity and compassion. The number of breakthroughs synergized by the links of the World Wide Web is exponential, and perhaps the most important breakthrough of all is the cognitive sharing of both sexes as creative, mutually caring, equally contributing human beings. At present, A graduate of Oxford, Berners-Lee is now working at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is interesting that his name, already linked by a hypen, suggests an attitude of linkage and partnership, which no doubt, also reflects in his love of his wife Nancy Carlson, and of both parents toward their two children, and suggests an inherent disposition of attitudes of partnership, fit for the new Millennial ARK. On the ARK, in addition to empowering the full equality, information access and connectedness of his wife, and all females as much as males, Tim is paired with Benizar Bhutto, a person once separated and exiled but now linked with by billions of people, who have learned more about her life via the World Wide Web, and who exemplifies the potential of all women and men of both India and Pakistan, of CERN's Europe, Oxford's England, and Tim and Nancy's home of the US, and all the internet users of the lands of the world from Helsinki to Johannesburg, to be friends together in using an Internet free and accessible to all in a culture of global interconnection, a balanced global brain of a culture of peace.

Jamila
Jamila uses only her first name, and this name will be remembered by the world. In the aftermath of the suicidal/terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in the US and the US bombing of Afghanistan, Jamila stood up tall to remind the world that terrorism and war are the fruit of "government" without the voice of women heeded. Jamila joined women from Kosova and East Timor in telling the world that the UN security council must bring women to official recognition in peace talks, as it has promised in formal resolutions, and that it is the UN, not women of the world, who must prove its value. Jamila stated "the leadership of men (only) has only brought war and suffering." The Afghanistan population is 54% female, much as the population of the world. Jamila embodies courage, enduring confidence, and a world warning and vision for her people and the world, stating "We remember a time (in Afghanistan) when women were doctors, lawyers and judges. Women must be included in any peacebuilding efforts to ensure peace and lasting security... We ARE the role models for our youth; we ARE working for security and peace". Jamila is a role model for all women; if she can stand up for recognizing of her leadership, every women can everywhere, and bring the gift of peace, through lasting balance everywhere on earth to women and men alike. Jamila took an important, epochal step---now it is up to the UN and everyone to Board the Ark! Working with women like Tansu Cillar, Nadia Leila-Assaoui, and Benazir Bhutto and their equally important husbands and other men like Rugova, and many more who are called to be as egalitarian leaders of Egypt, Morocco and many other lands, these pairs are proving that being or Moslem or Arabic does not preclude gender balance in political deicision making. This woman proves that when women, demand what is rightful for all human beings for themselves, good men come to their aid peacefully, and even the most troubled areas of the world can make rapid, overnight progress.
Ibrahim Rugova
Although Professor Rugova was temporarily caught up in the divisive nationalism and fractionizing that has characterized the Balkan region and once lead to world war, his non-violent methods suggest this is a man ready for successful co-leadership with women, and indeed, many women of all ethnicities supported his leadership to gain recognition of minorities and cooperation of all religious and ethnic groups in the the Balkans. As the Women in Black of the region, Rugova's non-violent methods were also left uncelebrated by the male-dominated US Press for many years, and neither he nor women were included in the Dayton Peace Talks that failed. These omissions the greatest contributing factor to the societal breakdown that overtook the Balkans and lead to genocide and war in the former Yugoslavia. But Rugova and Women in Black leaders such as Stasa Zajovic of the Millennial International Peace Prize, and Flora Brovina, also on the ARK, are still active in the region and world consciousness. As she, Jamila, Mary Robinson and her sisters, and Rugova, Kofi Annan, Walesa, Arias and all the regional and worldwide brothers embrace each other on the Ark, embraced by men and women of all nations, they will bring gender-partnership and lasting peace to the Balkans, to the acclaim of the whole earth.

Continuing Co-Stewardship, with Spouses - Current and Ongoing Indefinitely Through the Days when Sonia Gandhi A widow and mother of a son and a daughter, Sonia Gandhi is President
of the largest political party in the world second largest nation (by
population). Gandhi has already run for national highest office and
will likely do so again, supported by men and women of her nation
alike. Truly a world citizen, she was born in Italy, and there met
and married Rajiv Gandhi, who served as Prime Minister of India
himself as did his mother Indira Gandhi, and Indira's father,
Jawaralal Nehru, a close friend although not a relative of tha
Mahatma, (whose son Arun and his wife are also already boarded on
the ARK.) Mrs. Gandhi is the author of several uniquely inspiring
books, including Freedom's Daughter, and Two Alone, Two Together,
among others. Similar to Corazon Acquino of the Phillipines who was a
brilliant and qualified widow who assumed national leadership
democratically, in essence, Sonia Gandhi is to India what Jacqueline
Kennedy might have been to the United States had Jackie, Rose, and
other Kennedy women in the US taken the step women of many nations
took of activism for equal presence in government, and not shied away
from entering and leading their daughters and sons to reform the all
male smoke filled rooms of America at the end of the 20th century. In
the US, this step has simply taken one more generation.* Sonia
Gandhi has personally led the recent sit-ins at the Lok Sabha (Indian
Parliament) for achieving a national minimum standard for gender
balance in government. These sit ins, regarding the Reservation Act
still under consideration in India and likely already adopted in the
consciousnesses of most of that great nation's citizens, are
discussed in detail elsewhere on the ARK website. in our section detailing the enormous achievements toward
gender balance in democracy in all the world's nations; look in the
section on progress in India, Pakistan and other nations of the Indus

Oscar Arias Sanchez Oscar Arias Sanchez, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987, was
President of Costa Rica from 1986-1990. Married to Margarita Penon
Gongora, a biochemist educated in both Costa Rica and the US with a
degree from Vassar, he and Margarita are parents of of a son and
daughter. With his Nobel prizewinnings, he and Margarita established
the Center for Human Progress for the express purpose of ending
gender discrimination in Central America. They also then founded the
Center for Peace and Reconciliation to promote non-violent conflict
resolution and democracy, and the Center for Organized Participation
to assist citizen activism and participation in government. A
graduate of the University of Costa Rica in political science and
economics who also traveled around the world before becoming a
college professor and then entering politics, Oscar became a leader
of the prodemocracy National Liberation Party in Costa Rica and
served his people under earlier Presidents of that party, in various
positions in the legislature, became general secretary of his party,
and then President under the slogan "Roofs, Jobs and Peace". His 10
point peace plan organized the once violence-torn nations of Central
America to move away from foreign proxy battles of the Cold War and
post-Cold War period, toward greater democracy and national
elections, and resisted pressures to militarize Costa Rica, which is
today known as a nation of teachers and college professors, informed
citizens and world status universities. He and his wife Margarita
have worked actively with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, Stuart Mott and
other leaders, women and men, who are also committed to real, mature
democracy and gender equal citizenship and leadership. and who have
also been boarded on ARK_earthinbalance. You can reach Oscare Arias
Sanchez and his equally important wife Margarita, who has also done
significant and equally important public speaking in these issues and
now also holds legislative office in Costa Rica, as well as their
Euginia, their daughter, whose name means good new beginning, via the
embassy of Costa Rica. ON the ARK, in addition to being paired with
each other, Oscar Sanchez is paired to steward the sail toward
worldwide gender balanced and spiritually good government with Sonia
Gandhi. (and just to demonstrate that all spouses can be full
partners in good time, we have also paired Margarita with the Dalai
Lama, for her titled term on the list. All spouses on the ARK, thus,
can also serve as colleagues for their community, as well as beloved
spouses to their mates; this is easy because on the ARK, family and
work are always in balance for women and men alike, by shared
decision and optimal timing for their increasingly long-lived
lifetimes! Another such pair are Tarja Halonen and Pentii Arajarvi,
for example, who are husband and wife and also co-steward with
other colleagues. And before long, both Oscar and Margarita's son and
daughter can become another pair on the Ark; the Ark makes
intergenerational leadership for community and while sustaining
respect and love throughout life mutually compatible, from generation
to generation, for husbands and wives, and brothers and sisters. for
all daughters and sons.
Lionel Jospin Lionel Jospin served as the Prime Minister of France through June,
2002, when he "lost" a very low turnout French election for
President. Up until then, Jospin held his Prime Minister office
longer than any previous French leader. An adept political leader,
Jospin was first an educator for young people, and developed social
work experience in working with adolescents, and his career was
marked by idealism and the belief that human beings can grow and
learn. During his many years as Prime Minister, he was able to unite
left and Green parties in France; that is, until the 2002 election.
Many noted that his campaigning was lacking in pride in his own
achievements, and downplaying ideals while focussing on pragmatics.
Ironically, thus, much like other world leaders who have failed to
become elected while less popular candidates "won" controversial or
low turnout "elections", he appeared to be courting centrist voters,
rather than uniting the support of the more liberal voters who
already embraced his best ideas, and were his true voter base.
Perhaps he did not focus on his achievements in gender balance
sufficiently for many women and men in France to see the importance
of unity on this issue, and many votes among men and women who
favored gender balance and liberal policies were scattered among
several candidates and parties, instead of uniting in a strategic
way. Some voters likely may have preferred a long awaited woman
candidate, such as Arlette Laguiller, and wished that Jospin had
enough both humility and daring to endorse her or someone like her,
or perhaps his wife Sylvianne Agacinski, and pledged to continue his
Prime Ministership with a French version of Gro Harlem, or Tarya
Halonen, before himself seeking the Presidency for yet another man in
a nation, that unlike other countries in Europe, has never yet had a
woman President. Still, and in any case, Jospin has won international
acclaim and immortality for his implementation of the French Gender
Parite Law, and won an important seat on the new Millennial ARK.
Jospin is husband of Sylviane Agacinksi, considered a primary author
of the French gender parite law, and is partnered with her on the
ARK, and they are parents of a son, and step-parents of 2 daughters.
Along with Scandinavian men like Anders Johnnson and others,
Prematurely called a "loser" in a nationalistic context but the
biggest winner in the global one, Jospin, and his wife, are
essential characters in the already unfolding story of the New
Millennium.
Sylviane Agacinksi Jospin Sylviane Agacinski is Professor of Philosophy at the Haute Etudes
en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She is considered the primary author
of the French Gender Parite law, which brought 50-50 gender balance
to all French cities in 2001, and is still working to bring gender
balance to the French national legislature, despite difficulties
evidenced by low turnout French national election confusions. The law
and the explanation of it are available in English as a best selling
book, Parite of the Sexes, published by Columbia University Press.
Agacinski has not yet offered herself for political candidacy, but it
is likely that her husband and great numbers of French would endorse
and support her if she did, and together they are an ideal couple to
attempt a partner co-leadership arrangement either together, or with
trusted colleagues, and in an international scenario, rather than a
nationalistic one. Perhaps had Jospin run as an co-equal Prime
Minister and offered his wife or a woman she had supported, as a
co-equal President while also drawing attention to a similar election
for a similar couple in another country, such as UK, Netherlands,
Germany or India, the couple could have mobilized more votes, and the
world would have paid more honor to the French 2002 "election". At
present time of this writing, the French Assembly does not yet
fulfill either Parite or worldwide ARK standards of true government,
although thanks to Jospin and Agacinski, all French cities already
do. But of course, the French Assembly could catch up quickly, as
whenever it saves itself from drowning in the inevitable scandals,
distrust, war-system, and difficulties of gender imbalance, and
French, and indeed, all European citizens unite with the billions
worldwide who have already boarded and are daily boarding the new
Millennial ARK of gender balance and true, fully human government!
With Jospin, Professor Agacinski is the parent of a son and
step-mother of two daughters, and without doubt, a true universal
teacher, a mother of true government for all generations to come.
Thanks to Agacinski and Jospin and others like them stewarding the
ARK, all the children of France...and soon the world, can expect to
both lead and love, on the ARK.
These stewards, along with others listed on the ARK website, are
called and highlighted as co-stewards because they are currently
active and among the world's most well known in bringing forth gender
balance, and mutuality with equality, to government and society, and
to all human thought and awareness. But ultimately, all human beings
are brothers and sisters on the ark_earthinbalance.
If in any case, we have listed a spouse where there is none, we
apologize for such error. One need not be married or in a
gender-balanced relationship to join the ARK, but ARK invites men and
women to join (board) in gender balanced pairs or proportions, in
order to insure the 50/50 balance that will save the world and most
quickly bring and sustain democracy for our planet, as well as
treasuring marriage and couplehood of men and women where it exists.

spiritual brotherhood and sisterhood of humanity, and especially the
necessary presence of men and women as mutual and equally valued
