I know she’s in pain
More than she’ll admit
And my heart simply breaks
To see her just sit

The person we knew
Has been gone a long time
Part of her left years ago
The day Grandpa died

I know that she’s longing
For her heavenly home
Where she can go running
And never be alone

She’s lived a long life
Every step for the Lord
Death holds no fear
As she approaches the door

When I look at her now
She seems far away
I think she sees Grandpa
And longs for that day

That day the angel comes
To take her for a ride
To live on the golden shore
Just over on the other side

Though I won’t wish her back
I’ll cry when she leaves us
Then rest to know she’s happy
And forever with her Jesus

Dedicated to and In Memory of:
John Dewey Bennett (May 14, 1911-July 1, 1993)
AND
Willie Rhea Bennett (May 20, 1916-June 2, 2003)

They were together for many years
Through countless joys and sorrows
Sharing the laughter and the tears
Anticipating each tomorrow

It had to be hard to watch him go
Grandpa’s battle was so long
But through it all she never lost it
She always was so strong

She missed Grandpa so much when he left
We thought we’d lose her too
But she loved her kids and grandkids enough
That she knew what she must do

She had to hang on and be strong for us
And faithfully run the race
She would serve her Lord every day
Enabled by God-given grace

The years went by and her body weakened
We knew her time was near
She was longing for her Heavenly Home
We could not keep her here

We prayed for strength to let her go
And the grace to carry on
Then her Jesus called her home
Her journey was finally done

Her pains have all departed
Her tears are wiped away
She can see and hear perfectly now
She can run, and dance, and play

I know that Grandpa was right there
Waiting on the Golden Shore
To be reunited with his sweetheart
And be together forever more
