Jakarta Post 04 May, 2001 JAKARTA (JP): The Brawijaya Military Command overseeing East Jakarta province will send on Friday one battalion of Air Defense Artillery (Arhanud) troops to Ambon for the peace and security restoration operation in the conflict-ridden Maluku capital, command spokesman Lt. Col. Djoko Agus said on Thursday. Agus said two companies of the 682 troops were from the Sidoarjo-based Eighth Air Defense Artillery Battalion, and one company each from the Malang-based First Field Artillery Battalion and the Malang-based Military Engineers Corps. "All of the troops will depart onboard the Navy's Teluk Bone warship from Surabaya Naval Base," he said. He said the fresh troops would replace previous Brawijaya Military Command troops of the 521 Infantry Battalion and the 527 Infantry Battalion who had long been deployed in Ambon. (imn)
