PREPARATIONS FOR WAR
It was 5:00am. A thick fog surrounded Edo fortress. The smell of what was to come filled the air. It was the smell of death. The smell of blood and perspiration. A camp had been set up outside the walls of the fortress. Two rebels had turned on Ieyasu, one was the infamous General Yi, the other was the not so well known but equally deadly mistress, Hanga. The two were in the private tent going over battle plans. Hanga stabbed her dagger into the table. "We attack at dawn, that should be in about an hour. Are your men ready Yi san?" Hanga was shaking with adrenaline.
"The Crimson Men are always ready." replied Yi in a gruff voice. "Edo will fall and I shall be the Shogun of all Japan. You shall be second only to me. A lot better your rank right now." Yi was sure he had a loyal servant in Hanga, but she wanted to rule Japan on her own, she didn't want to be second to anoyone. Hanga had already planned how to overthrow Yi once Ieyasu had been put aside. "You seem deep in thought with that mischevious grin Hanga san. Care to share your thoughts?"
"Oh... ah... it's nothing."
Meanwhile, inside the fortress, Ieyasu was speaking with his two loyal Daimyo, Togo and Honda. "My loyal followers, these last few days have seen my empire almost fall to the ground. First Fukushima, then Musashi, and now those two rats Yi and Hanga. Your honest opinion Honda, do we have a chance of keeping the castle?"
"I will do my best my lord. But with the Crimson Army against us, our chances are slim." Honda stood tall with his arms crossed. Even in his last moments he was a proud man.
"Right, I want you Togo, to stay by my side in the castle, in my quarters, and watch over the battle. If we should lose, I shall perform Hara-kiri." Ieyasu quivered with the thought of losing all he had worked for all those years
"As you wish Tokugawa san." blurted Togo, humbled by Ieyasu's efforts to stay calm.
