LOYALTY QUESTIONED

"Honda san, I am promoting you to being my right in command. Should my son Hidetada die, you shall be the next shogun. Musashi, Fukushima, Tomoe. Your actions of the past few weeks demand an end by way of the blade. But your actions of today deserve considerable praise. Do not smile at my words. I am not a forgiving man. Your crimes have been pardoned, but that is all, you may return to your normal lives serving me." Ieyasu clicked his fingers, "GUARDS!! Bring in the prisoners."
Two young men scurried away and returned promptly with Hanga and Yi. They then fled in fear - the Lord Tokugawa was not in a good mood. "YI, HANGA, HOW DARE YOU DEFY ME!! You will both be executed. You do not deserve an honourable death, you are beyond Hara-kiri. Musashi shall decapitate you on the royal platform in front of a paying audience. Your death shall be as your life; a mockery of the Bushido. Any questions Musashi?"
"I will do as you say Tokugawa san"
"One more thing Musashi - use your oldest, most worn and pitiful blade. These inferior beings deserve nothing more. Any last requests Yi? Hanga?"
Hanga spoke up, "I request only a second chance to serve you oh great Master, to be one of your followers again. My heart is true and I will not turn away again."
Yi stood disgusted. He would never fall so low as to praise the Tokugawa's name again. "How could you? How could you outlaw Fukushima for getting you a priceless gift, and Musashi san? Fukushima san? Tomoe san? How could you? Why do you continue to serve this man? He is just a man, flesh and blood such as us. You did not betray him, he betrayed us all, outlawing you in your own country, a country you have shed your blood for." He charged towards Ieyasu, hands still tied behind his back. Honda’s knee came out of nowhere, connecting solidly with Yi’s gut.
"THAT IS IT!" Ieyasu‘s rage was clearly written on his face. "You have sealed your fate. Be gone! My chamber reeks of your cowardly stench." Yi and Hanga were escorted out by Honda and Fukushima’s bare blades. Following closely behind was Musashi with Tomoe, now keeper of the book.
