Well I know English and Indonesian, and the latter isn't much help here. Bascially you should learn Russian which will get you through all the CIS countries. Chinese would have been nice but it is reallllllllllllly difficult (unless you are very gifted!). You will find people who speck english in all the tourist (ie most Lonely planet) places.
