nspired by the soul-stirring message of Swami Vivekanand, of worshipping God in the
human soul in the human body, as the religion of supreme order, some local gentlemen made a humble beginning in form of a small dispensary. It was taken over by the Ramakrishna Mission, the next year, on 12 January 1908, on occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand.

Since the modest beginning, adhering to the dreams and visions of Swami Vivekanand, the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama has progressively grown to its present stature, serving the needs of a large number of pilgrims, as well as the people of neighbouring areas. It renders completely free medical services, including the diagnosis, treatment, medicines, operations, blood, diet and various other medical tests to all the outpatients and inpatients (except 21 highly subsidised cabin patients), and also to patients in remote villages through its Mobile Medical Unit under a Pallimangal (Rural Work) project. It was Swami Vivekanand’s heartfelt desire, to do selfless service to the diseased, considering them “Rogi Narayans”. The hospital rendering such free services is a boon to the underprivileged, poor and the destitute.

Apart from its School of Nursing (duly recognised by the U.P. State Medical Faculty and the Indian Nursing Council),  which gives completely free training to poor girl in a General Nursing and Midwifery Diploma Course.

The institution also conducts works of general relief and welfare activities. Cooked food, food grains, clothes, textbooks, spectacles, and similar other essentials for life, with monetary grants are doled every year to the destitute, in particular to leper families, poor widows and students. Pecuniary help is also given for marriage and cremation to poor families.

The centre is run as a pious and altruistic mission, without accepting any financial aid from either the Central or the State Government. It has been erected and is supported purely by voluntary contributions. *
