Each year, the whole world celebrates the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month of June. To commemorate the emergence of what we now know as the “Lesbian and Gay Rights Movement”, various programs and activities are held. In nexus with the observance of the LGBT Pride Month, The Society of Trans Advocates of the Philippines (STRAP) in cooperation with Inxs Communications will hold TRANSCEND+2002: A night of Beauty, Wit and Advocacy. The project is a modified form of “Ms. Gay or Beaucon” which we intend to use its wide demographic appeal as an instrument to pursue our advocacy. Along with the usual competition of beauty and wit, the event will consist of information dissemination, human rights consciousness raising, gender and sexuality sensitivity training for the contestants, and educational presentation during the pageant. Proceeds will be earmarked to assist STRAP on its on-going expansion and work. |
