As you can see there, fibres are but an accessory to caulking and paint based products, with the exception of the wool-only joint 'firestops'. Insulation typically serves as a low cost filler, or 'packing', for caulking and paints, which (despite much marketing type fanfare) would otherwise (unless they're intumescent) burn to a crisp in minutes, if installed on their own.
