WE REALLY REALLY LOVE GOLF...
...because it gives us an opportunity to play outdoors with our friends,
and to meet new friends. Mitch enjoys it for its strategic elements. Maria
enjoys it because she likes to hit the snot out of the ball. Our home course
is very hilly, so walking the course (or if you're Mitch, riding the course
on his mountain bike--yes, he really bikes and carries his clubs!) is a
real physical workout. We basically think riding carts are for disabled
folks, physical pussies, and carrying booze. We have played courses with
mandatory carts, but we don't like it. We'd rather schlep our clubs on our
back like stud golfers.

We are also pretty adept at the rules of golf. Mitch is locally famous on
our course for his ability to make accurate rulings on difficult golf rule
questions. Between the two of us, we have both the recent rules book and
the decision book. However, we don't have a British rule book. (If someone
has an extra one from a recent year, we'd take it as a donation, however.
You never know if we will ever need to make an international ruling!) Obviously,
only the USGA or the R&A can make "official" rulings, but
we can at least give you a "ballpark" ruling with a fairly fast
turnaround time.
