Places to go, things to see...

Mitch wanted to show you his great photo of the Union Covered Bridge. This bridge, one of five remaining covered bridges in Missouri, is just south of Paris, MO and has recently been refurbished by the Mo. Dept. of Natural Resources (and our tax dollars!)

This bridge is one of the last remaining covered bridges in the U.S. to use
a "burr arch" truss. (look behind Mitch in the next picture between his left
shoulder and the opening on the other side of the bridge at 3:00 in the
next photo to see the burr arch.)

Mitch wanted me to tell you he had nothing to do with all that graffiti...

Meanwhile, the other half of this home page traveled to Norfolk, VA to the commissioning of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman. Maria got a free trip as a member of the Board of Governors at Truman State University.

Here is the bridge of the carrier. The little tiny guy at the arrow is President
Bill Clinton. Maria says she didn't see him pat any female sailor butts or
anything. She didn't see any cigars, either.

Maria on the bridge. "Take her out, Mr. Sulu. Warp one."

If you're a stamp collector you'll like this first day cover Maria picked up on the ship.
