WELCOME TO OUR CHILD CARE! Following will be a list of rules, hours and rates, information about us and information we need about you and your children. Hopefully this will answer many questions you have concerning our child care. Feel free to ask anything not answered for you.

We have a mixed age child care. We care for children from infancy through age 10.

Storytime Outdoor Play

Games Crafts

Art Projects Music

Learning Time Quiet Time

Our home will provide clean and well-supervised play areas. The toy and play area, all blankets, pillows and nap area is sprayed daily with a disinfectant. Weekly, toys are sanitized with bleach water in our dishwasher. All bedding is washed weekly or as needed. We have outlet protectors in all outlets not being used. All harmful chemicals, medications, or dangerous items are kept behind closed doors on top shelves. The cupboard doors all have childproof latches. There are NO SMOKERS in this household. All dishes and utensils will either be disposable or sanitized after each use. All washing will be done with either a fresh clean washcloth or disposable wipes.

The rules will be explained to the children to the best of their understanding. They will be reminded of the rules when necessary. We will try to be consistent. All children will be treated equally. We use redirection for the most part. On rare occasions "time out," one minute per year of age.

We are here and open 5 days a week from 7:15am to 5:15pm. Our child care is open to all children, regardless of race, nationality, or creed, who may benefit from our type of program. Should a reason arise when we must be absent from our child care we would request each family have a back-up child care provider.

Our child care may be closed for up to two weeks. We will give two weeks prior notice to our parents. You will be charged 1/2 your normal weekly rate.

Year 2000

No "day off" for December.

We are closed for the following holidays:

Year 2000

May 29 - Memorial Day

July 5th – 4th of July Holiday

Sep. 04 - Labor Day

Oct. 09 - Columbus Day

Nov. 23 & 24 - Thanksgiving

* * * The above holidays are subject to change * * *

You will not be required to pay for these holidays, as we do not provide care those days. If your child(ren) requires care on these holidays, you will need to rely on your back-up care giver.

We do ask you to give us the courtesy of 2 weeks prior notification when you will be taking a vacation. You will be charged as though your child were here, even though they are not.

We require a minimum of 24 hours prior notification if your child(ren) will be gone for one day (when not because of illness).

Positions in child care are considered "open" unless a non-refundable deposit is paid. This will hold your child(ren)’s slot for a period of 2 weeks after the scheduled start date. An exception will be made for newborn care. We will hold the opening for 6 weeks after the birth of the child. The deposit is equivalent to 1 week of child care.

If child care begins as stated in the contract, the deposit will be applied towards the first week of child care. If child care does not begin on the contracted start date, the deposit will be forfeited and become the property of Kids 1st Child Care.

FULL TIME CHILD CARE: 40+ hours per week

Allowed one day off per month at no charge(with proper notice). This day can be used for an illness or whatever you wish. These days do not accumulate, if you do not use your day off, it is lost. Your "day off" per month will begin one month from your first day. Example: If you were to start July 1st your "day off" would begin August 1st. If only one child is sick (when two or more children in one family) you will be charged only for those children present at child care, unless they have used their "day off" for the month. Your one day off per month includes holidays.

If your child(ren) is/are dropped off before or picked up later than your scheduled contract time, you will be billed for the extra time and any applicable early drop-off and/or late pick-up charges. Extra hours are billed in 15 minute increments or any portion thereof.

The Day Rate is for a 9 1/2 hour period. If your child(ren) is/are here for more than the 9 ˝ hours, those extra hours are billed in 15 minute increments or any portion thereof. Our business hours are from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

You will be billed a set fee per week. This minimum fee will be billed on a weekly basis and overtime will be extra. There will be no discounts for sick days or vacation. You will be charged from the minute you drop off your child(ren) till your scheduled pick-up time. Should you bring your child(ren) late you will still be charged for the full day. If your child(ren) is/are picked up later than your scheduled pick-up time you will be billed for the extra time and any applicable late charges. Part time care can be terminated by Kids 1st Child Care if the position can be filled by full time care.

Child Care needed on a temporary basis, regardless of length of contract.

There will be a minimum charge for before and after school care. This applies to children which are full time students. There are no breaks for sick days or vacations. If your school aged child is holding an "after school" space, there will be no charge during the summer, when the child is not present. If your school child is holding a full time space during the summer, again, there will be no sick days or vacation days awarded during the summer.

1. Please KNOCK and then enter. Do not wait for one of us to come to the door, sometimes we are in the middle of an activity with a child and cannot leave them unattended. Bring your child(ren) in and help them with their coats and shoes if necessary. Give any special instructions at this time. When picking up your children we will try to highlight your child's day at this time. There will be a charge of $5.00 if the child is picked up more than 15 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time.

2. Remove your shoes or boots before walking on any carpeted areas.

If you wish, we will bring your child and his or her belongings to you.

3. Abide by prearranged hours. If you will be running late, please call us and let us know as soon as possible.

4. Financial agreements must be kept according to the contract. Should there be any questions regarding your bill, we will be glad to discuss it and go over it with you. PROMPT PAYMENT IS REQUIRED as we have a budget to follow and scheduled payments to make.

5. Bring a change of clothing for your child. Dress them according to the weather. Remember, Spring and Fall have cool mornings and warm to hot afternoons. In the Winter, we require that you provide gloves, stocking cap, scarf, snow pants and snow boots.

6. A child's birthday is an important day. Because of our conscious effort to teach good nutrition, we request that you might avoid extremely sugary birthday treats. We recommend cheese & crackers, muffins, fruits, etc... .

7. When needed - we ask you to provide the following:

Diapers Jumbo Roll of Bounty (wipes)

Sunblock Insect Repellent

Milk/Formula Baby Food

Change of Clothing

When potty training, we require that you supply Pull-ups. You must work with your child at home for two weeks, with success, before we will begin potty training at child care. Clothing should be easy to manage to encourage self help and independence skills. Buckles and suspenders, when in a hurry to use the restroom, may create a problem, so please, no bibs, suspenders or belts.

Kids 1st is a "Well Child Care Facility"! This means if your child is not feeling well, for whatever reason, you must make other arrangements for their care until they are feeling well and no longer contagious. Do not bring your child(ren) to child care if they have a fever over 101.0, diarrhea, vomiting or have a contagious illness. The child(ren) will not be allowed back into care until they are symptom free for 24 hours. If they are too sick to go outside, they are too sick to be at child care.

If your child has a common cold - slight cough, sneezing, or a runny nose, you can bring them to child care. However, when the cold reaches the point when your child will not play, cries, whines, wants to be held constantly, or has a continuous cough, you will be required to keep your child home If a child is brought "too sick" you will be phoned to pick up your child and allowed 15 minutes to make other arrangements. . If you bring your child to child care ill, you will be subject to a $5.00 fee for care of a sick child for each 15 minutes your child remains in care. If you can not pick your child(ren) up in that time frame you will be charged the sick child care charge in addition to your normal daily rate.

If your child is sick enough to require Prescription medication - Pink-Eye, Strep Throat, Bronchitis, Pneumonia, etc... We will require you to keep your child(ren) home until he or she has been on medication for 48 hours and they are no longer contagious.

If you request us to administer medication (prescription or other) you must complete an authorization form BEFORE WE WILL ADMINISTER. Please dispense all medications at home whenever possible. If your child does require medications to be dispensed while at child care, it is the parents responsibility to call us and remind us. Our day is very busy and to often we don't remember until after the child is sleeping. Prescription medication must be in the original container with the pharmacy label and doctor instructions. Sample medications or over the counter medications must be accompanied by the same information as a prescription, written on the physicians stationary.

We ask parents to please follow the guidelines for illness. This is for the protection of all those involved. Many times either our child care or ourselves get blamed for the illness of a child. Yet, parents don't realize the majority of this is brought into our home exposing our own family, too. We STRESS this again - if you are not sure if a child should be brought, feel free to call us ahead of time.

Parents with infants or toddlers - if your child has a continuous runny nose or bad cold, he or she may be placed in a playpen until they are better. This reduces the messes and "yuck" in the carpet and on toys, therefore, hopefully reducing the chances of it being passed on to another child. It's hard with this age, as all the children want to put everything into their mouths. These precautions will be taken when necessary.

Due to possible complication from immunizations you must keep your child home for 24 hours after their injections. We suggest you make the appointment for early in the morning or Friday morning. If you schedule your appointment for later in the day, your child will not be able to return until the second day.

1. Call parents at work.

2. Contact Doctor or nurse.

3. Child is separated from the other children and cared for.

4. Child is transported by parent, or ambulance to doctor or hospital.

Payment agreements have been agreed upon in your contract. Please abide by the agreement. Payment is due in advance, by 11am Friday morning. We will supply you with a bill for the amount due which you may use for tax purposes. If paying by check, make payable to Beth .

Again! Please give proper notice for days of vacation, sick, emergency, etc.. Please do not take it for granted we know your days off or your vacation days. This will save on confusion, hard feelings, and money!

There will be a $3.00 late charge for each day you payment is late.

There will be an extra $5.00 per 15 minute increment for "sick child care."

There will be a $30.00 charge for checks returned for any reason. Two returned checks due to insufficient funds will require you to pay in cash.

If supplies are requested and parents fail to bring them, we will purchase them and add them to your bill.

There will be a $5.00 per 15 minute increment or any portion thereof late charge if your child(ren) are picked up after their scheduled pick-up time.

For families on Child Care Assistance, your deposit will be held and used towards your last week’s child care or to offset any fees not covered by Child Care Services. You will be responsible for all charges until approval notification is received by Kids 1st from Child Care Services

We believe children are responsible for their actions and we teach them to respect other peoples property and the value of those items. Should your child break a toy or personal item due to roughness or because he/she broke a rule, parents will be subject to a charge of AT LEAST 50% of the replacement cost.

Please retain your statements for tax purposes. If you wish us to supply you with a list of the amounts paid to us for the year, there will be a $10.00 charge for the information.

Should you decide to pick up your child(ren) early for whatever reason, please notify us before you pick him/her up. You will still be billed for the full day. This also applies if your child(ren) is/are brought late for any reason. Please have the courtesy to let us know when you will be running late or picking up early. Changes in these times affects our schedule for the day.

There will be a minimum charge of $35.00 per week for 1 child. The hours for this care will be 7:15am- 8am and 3pm-5:15pm. There is no break given if absent.

There is NO break given for Kindergarten, Pre-school, or Head Start. If you child is enrolled in Head Start or another program which requires your child ride the bus, you need to inform Head Start or the school, to let your child off the bus without requiring a representative of Kids 1st to wave to the driver.

Nap time or quiet and rest time is from 12:30pm to 2:30/3pm Please do not come to the house at this time without calling. We do not require everyone sleep, but they must at least rest.

We are equipped with enough age appropriate toys for every level. We request that you do not bring toys from home unless it is for a special project or occasion.

This contract shall be terminated if any one or more of the following occur.

  1. Serious illness of a child preventing attendance.
  2. The account becomes delinquent.
  3. Kids 1st Child Care determines it is unable to meet the needs of the child.
  4. Kids 1st Child Care determines it is not in the best interest of Kids 1st Child Care or the children enrolled to have the child in attendance.
  5. Failure of the parents to cooperate with Kids 1st, which Kids 1st determines is serious enough to warrant termination.
  6. Parental Termination – Required to give a written two week notice for which you will be charged your normal child care rates. Advanced payment is required for the entire two week period and is due upon Kids 1st receipt of written termination notice.

Many of the rules and information in this booklet are written from experience and situations we have faced in child care. It has certainly been a learning experience for us. We are always open to suggestions. If there are any problems or something has upset you, we encourage you to please come and talk to either of us about it. We want everyone to be happy and comfortable with our child care.

*We have the discretion to make changes in rates and policies we deem necessary. You will be notified in writing of any changes and when the changes will go into effect.
