Thirdly, I will have to ask a favor here. Fenton is a copyrighted character, and to protect that copyright, I have to ask you to (a) please make your page the "Unofficial" Fenton page or somesuch, and (b) plop a small bit of legal jargon somewhere on the page (probably right near the bottom): "Fenton", "Olga", "Fagan", "Rood", and "Death Sheep From Hell" are Copyright 1992, 1998 by Tom Smith and Pretzel Productions. Used with permission. All rights reserved. I ask this because, believe it or not, there's a comic strip in the works. Not specifically for Fenton, but he'll be a character. More details later; it'll probably show up on my web page. If you're wondering who Olga, Fagan, and Rood are, well, read on, MacDuff. If you've not heard the tale of the creation of Fenton, the short form is that it was inspired by a rather immense fellow named Fenton we saw at The Monster Sound Show in Walt Disney World's MGM Studios. He resembled Bob (the dolt husband from the comic strip Suburban Cowgirls), with a bad buzzcut and a worse, thin little moustache. Called upon to provide some of the sound effects, and also the evil laugh for Martin Short's character, he was utterly not up to the task; he occasionally remembered to slap a button for an electronic sound effect within three seconds after a given cue, and the only evil laugh he could manage sounded a whooole lot like, "BAAAH, BAAAH". Us nutbars in the front howled, saying it sounded like a sheep from Hell, and even the polite Disney hostess laughed and said, "Yeah, it does sound like a sheep, doesn't it?" Thus was a legend born. Now then. It did not even occur to us that, to get to the Michigan Renaissance Festival, you have to go through Fenton, Michigan (just south of Flint, just west of Mt. Holly). But we did, one day, and laughed madly, crying out, "Oh, no! He controls the whole TOWN!" There was the Fenton Hotel, and the Fenton Drug Store, and the Fenton Toy Shop.... ... The intersection of Fagan and Rood Streets.... "Those are his HENCHMEN!" we cried. (We're not sure about Fagan's job, but Rood's the kind of guy that, if you come out of your house, and your car's missing, and it's in the bottom of the neighbor's swimming pool, and you say to yourself, "Jeez, that was rude", well, you're right.) And, at a Space-Time Theater comedy show some years back, R. J. Johnson was doing some funny shtick or other in an Ahh-nult Shvarddzenneggah voice, and he said something about "may-kink loff to Olga". We figured that must be Fenton's moll. (If I ever finish the song DEATH SHEEP 8, you'll find out where Dolly the Clone fits in....) In any case, if you can't figure it out by now, I approve of your site, thank you for the kindness and flattery, and think you've got the right tone and spirit. Kinda like Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank, Fenton's AD&D alignment would be Chaotic Evil Kinda (Clumsy). Go wild, child. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next. And, if you don't mind, I'd like to put a link to your page on mine. Oh, and, sending me your real name and address somewhere along the line would probably be good. That way, Fagan and Rood can come visit YOU. Mr. Bunny. Brrr.
