WHEN WAS THE JEFFERSON BIBLE FIRST PUBLISHED?

> I have come across your information online about the Jefferson Bible and > found it intriguing for reference in my philosophy essay. As far as I am able to tell, the Jefferson Bible was first published by Congress in 1904. It was also published in the Memorial Edition of Jefferson's Writings (Lipscomb and Bergh, eds.) in 1903. As best as I can tell, those are the earliest published editions of the Jefferson Bible.

In a sense, all editions of the Jefferson Bible are "reprints" or reissues of Jefferson's original paste-up job. This is also one of the earliest editions of the book published, since the book was unknown for a long period and existed only in manuscript. It was not until the first few years of the 20th century that Congress and other publishers issued the book.
