Franco-Provençal
Franco-ProvençalFranco-Provençal has been sometimes has been labelled sometimes as a French Patois (dialect) or as variant of Occitan, but it is a distinct language. It is still spoken in France (historical provinces of Savoie and Lyonnais, north of Dauphiné, parts of Bourgogne and Franche-Comté), Italy (Aosta Valey, and a small community in Faeto and Celle S. Vito in the Province of Foggia in Apulia, far isolated in the south), and in Switzerland, in most of French-speaking Switzerland. Mixing with French is threatening the language, specially in France, but there may be still 1,000,000 speakers or so. |

Franko-ProventzaleraFranko-Proventzala hizkuntza oso bat da, dudarik gabe, baina batzuetan Frantsesaren Patois bailitzan gutxietsi dute, edo Okzitanieraren aldaera gisa sailkatu.Eskualde hauetan hitz egiten da: Suitzan (ia frantsesaren eremu berean), Frantzian (Savoia, Lyonnais, Dauphune iparraldea, eta Borgonia eta Franche-Comteko parteak), Italiako Aosta bailaran (eta komunitate urrun eta isolatuan, hegoaldean Apulian, Foggia probintziako Faeto and Celle S. Vito herrietan. Frantsesarekin nahasmena meatxu da hizkuntza honen biziraupenerako, bereziki Frantzian, baina baliteke oraindik milioi bat hiztun gelditzea. |
Aosta ValleyAosta Valley is a small region of northwest Italy (3.200 km2 and 112.000 inhabitants), with a degree of autonomy. The language of culture in Aosta has been traditionally French, but the true native speech of the people is actually Franco-Provençal. There may some 70.000 speakers of Franco-Provençal in the valley. Regarding placenemes, traditionally French forms are used, and those are which appear in maps (except for a period of Fascist rule, where Italian names where imposed). Nevertheless, the names of the valley and the capital are listed in Italian by maps (also many mountains, valleys and mountain passes). There is also a small Walser-German speaking community in Aosta. |

Val d'OutaAosta Harana eskualde autonomo txiki bat da Italiako ipar-mendebaldean (3.200 km2 eta 112.000 biztanle). Bertako kultur hizkuntza Frantsesa izan da tradizionalki, baina jatorrizko hizkuntza egiazki Franko-proventzala da, 70.000 lagunen mintzaira haranean. Leku-izenei dagokienez, mapetan frantsesezkoak ageri ohi dira herrien kasuan, baina italierazko Aosta izenari dagokionez, eta baita mendi, mendate eta haran askoren kasuan. Walser komunitateko hiztun-talde aleman bat ere badago Aostan. |
