Archbishopric of Riga

Albert, 1199-1229

The first Bishop Albert issued the mint privilege in 1211 to support the trading relations with other countries. The bracteates, found at Martinsala castle, Latvia, were struck in Latvia in 13th century. The numismatic investigation and metal analysis confirms this conclusion.
