Section 77-A of the By-Laws of the Grand Lodge of Missouri contains the first mention of Honorary Titles in conjunction with the Lodge of Research. The section states in part . . . "individual Masons may be elected 'Fellows' by the Lodge of Research as recognition of outstanding accomplishment."

The Minutes of the 1964 Communication of the Missouri Lodge of Research contains a revised Resolution outlining the requirements for the "Fellow" honor. It states:

A person to be designated a "Fellow" must have been a member of the Missouri Lodge of Research for at least five years, and must have complied with one or more of the following requirements: Write or publish a book or leaflet on some Masonic subject that has had general distribution, have written articles on Masonic Subjects that have had distribution in some Masonic publication, contributed as Editor or otherwise to the publication of a Masonic magazine or publication over a period of years, compiled historic Masonic research of value which has contributed to the success of some Masonic publication of the Lodge of Research."
