Sue Dewey

I was born in Independence, Kansas and at age of 6 my parents moved to Midland Texas, where there were better job opportunities.   Dad was a pharmacist for 50 years.  He and my Mom ran a small drug store in Midland. I attended schools and graduated from Midland High School in 1951.

I then attended Texas Tech University where I met  my husband, Robert Richardson.  We married in 1952 and moved back to Midland in 1954.  On December 6, 1954, our daughter Kathy was born, then two and a half years later our son Kevin was born.  We moved to Odessa, Texas in 1961, where my children attended school and graduated from Permian High. Yea! MoJo.  Kevin played football for the Permian Panthers and Kathy was on the cheering squad.

After both the kids were in school, I started to work for H&R Block in 1965.  I prepared income taxes for one year,  then was asked to be an Administrative Assistant, which position I held until 1975 when Block transferred me to Dallas. In Dallas I became a Regional Franchise Director for North Texas.  Later I was transferred to Wichita Falls for two years, then to the Sherman-Denison area for four years.  In 1984 was transferred back to Dallas to establish a new District, which included all of the Mid-Cities, Irving, Grand Prairie and Lewisville. In 1996 after Thirty One years I retired.

Bob passed away in 1983 from a heart attack.   Later I married John Dewey, who was a really good friend.  The marriage didn’t last but the friendship did until his death April 27, 2002.

In the mean time both of my children married and each had two boys, so now I am the grandmother to four boys, ages 21, 18, 12, and 10.

While working, my only hobby was travel, so when I retired I found a lot of fun things to do.  I joined the Lively Senior Center where I found the Computers for Fun Class, which I joined, and later became the Program Director.  It is still so much joy to be in the class with all of the new friends I’ve made.  I also took Spanish, Crafts, played Bridge and took Line Dancing classes.  My main interests now are Computers, Traveling and Gardening.
